Image processing based applications and systems are becoming an integral part of modern smart cities, systems, and daily routine tasks. The technical details of the design and implementation of such systems are very important or understanding signal and image processing tasks and their hardware implementations. This book provides the frame of design, modeling concepts, and application of image processing based systems using VLSI design techniques. Considering the vast range of applications, we proposed to bring out the book in two volumes. Each of these volumes focus on specific topics and contain the chapters related to those topics. The entire scope of the book has been covered in two volumes. In Volume 1, we focus more on object detection, recognition, smart traffic management, surveillance systems, face detection, gesture-based automated systems, smart cities based on automated cameras, and a lot more similar applications that are based on the concepts of image and video processing and finally implemented on hardware for the most optimum performance. In Volume 2, the focus is on biomedical applications where image processing based hardware design is used for applications such as cancer detection, ECG, EEG measurements, medical imaging-based healthcare systems, smart homes for elderly people and disabled people.
