The aim of the book is to provide an introduction to the underlying fundamental features and principles governing nucleic acid structures, as well as many of the structures themselves. The book emphasizes those structures determined by X-ray crystallography, since this methodology continues to dominate the field in terms of size of molecule whose structure can be determined, as well as still providing the majority of high-resolution structures. The introduction to crystallography and other techniques is designed to provide the non-specialist with sufficient understanding to read the primary literature, and most importantly, to be able to begin to judge the scope and quality of both experimental and theoretical structural studies. Contents: Methods for Studying Nucleic Acid Structure. The Building-Blocks of DNA and RNA. DNA Structure as Observed in Fibers and Crystals. Nonstandard and Higher-Order DNA Structures: DNA–DNA Recognition. Principles of Small Molecule-DNA Recognition. RNA Structures and Their Diversity. Principles of Protein-DNA Recognition
