American Night, film diretto da Alessio Della Valle, racconta la storia di due personaggi John Kaplan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), un mercante d'arte molto esperto, capace di distinguere e individuare facilmente un falso, e Michael Rubino (Emile Hirsch), divenuto di recente capo della mafia newyorchese. I due inevitabilmente finiscono per incontrarsi e scontrarsi, in quanto il boss è un grande appassionato di arte e sogna di far carriera come pittore, nonostante il padre defunto non abbia mai visto di buon occhio questa sua passione, secondo lui, poco virile.
Le strade del mercante e del criminale aspirante artista si incroceranno a causa del furto di una delle opere più importanti di Andy Warhol, la Pink Marilyn. Gli eventi che susseguiranno sconvolgeranno le loro esistenze, dando vita a un neo noir che ha come sfondo il mondo dell'arte contemporanea della Grande Mela e che vedranno Kaplan destreggiarsi nel mondo della malavita, pur di salvare se stesso e soprattutto la sua amata Sarah (Paz Vega).
