avatarI agree.  It was odd. Very odd, but better than expected.  The main actor (unknown to me) did a surprisingly good job of creating a convincing character.

avatarJK Simmons couldn't even pull this one together.  His incredible talent was put to waste in this low budget, mish-mash dumpster fire of a tale.  I actually watched this right after watching whiplash for the 50,000th time, my god what a difference in quality.
