Have you ever looked at a make-up application in a book or magazine, or on the internet, and tried it out, only to find it wasn’t successful? Are you overwhelmed by all the make-up options in the shops, to the point that you don’t know where to start? In Try It! Make-up Techniques, I share all you need to know to create your best face, from choosing colours to fixing different make-up issues, and more. Whether your products and tools are high end or simply from your local chemist, the tips and secrets I share with you will allow you to create a beautiful look you’ll be happy to show off.
This book follows the principles of art and design, meaning each make-up application is defined by the art principles of colour, shape, space, and form, and the design principles of harmony, balance, proportion, and emphasis. So while there are many ways you can do your make-up, I focus on the tools and information you need to create the most flattering look for yourself.
To start, you get a primer on what you need before applying make-up – from choosing and maintaining your make-up tools to prepping your skin. I’ve then broken down each feature by chapter, so you can zero in on its role in your make-up and what you need to make it look its best. I close with five classic make-up looks you can try. From a natural look to a metallic smoky eye, these looks have stood the test of time and are varied enough that you’ll be sure to find one you like. You can then use what you’ve learned about your unique features to translate any look to your own face.
Whether you read the book cover to cover or use it as a reference guide, I hope it helps to simplify make-up for you. Please feel free to reach out to me at neckupdesign.com if you have questions about a product or application. Most importantly, remember it is not make-upthat makes you beautiful it is youthat makes make-up beautiful!
