Stephen Strange fa terribili incubi, in cui un suo alter ego fugge con una ragazzina in uno scenario surreale.
Cerca di raggiungere un arcano libro bianco, ma un demone vuole invece prendere il controllo della ragazza e rubarle i poteri transdimensionali - uccidendola nel mentre.
Quando si risveglia, Strange si reca al matrimonio della sua amata Christine con un altro uomo. Il mago cerca con scarso successo di nascondere il proprio dolore e, quasi per fortuna, arriva a toglierlo d'impiccio un enorme mostro che insegue la stessa ragazzina del suo sogno. Strange e Wong fanno così la conoscenza della giovane:
America Chavez, che dovranno proteggere da una minaccia nascosta nel multiverso.
