Charly García (born Carlos Alberto García Moreno, 23 October 1951) is an Argentine singer-songwriter, musician and producer. Within his vast career he formed some of the bands long considered as the most popular in Argentina's rock history: Sui Generis in the 1970s and Serú Girán in the 1980s, plus cult status groups like progressive-rock act La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros. Since the 80's García has worked mostly as a solo musician. His main instruments is the piano, together with guitar and keyboards.
García is widely considered by critics as one of the most influential rock artists in the Spanish rock scene, and "The Father of Argentinian Rock".
Part of Religion is the fourth solo studio album by Argentine musician Charly García. It was produced by García together with Joe Blaney and was released in 1987.
It is considered by specialized critics as one of the most neat and compact albums in the musician's career, from the cover to the content of the lyrics.
In the live performances of Part of the religion, which had begun in July 1987, the band that accompanied García was new, and consisted of Carlos García "El Negro" López on guitar, Fernando Lupano on bass, Fernando Samalea ( who participated in the recording of the album) on drums, Fabián "Zorrito" Von Quintiero on keyboards, Alfi Martins on keyboards and Fabiana Cantilo (who also participated in the recording of the album) on backing vocals.
