Plot: Defying the state legislature that outlawed abortion, the Catholic Church that condemned it, and the Chicago Mob that was profiting from it, the members of “Jane” risked their personal and professional lives to support women with unwanted pregnancies. Wade era — a time when abortion was a crime in most states and even circulating information about abortion was a felony in Illinois — the Janes provided low-cost and free abortions to an estimated 11,000 women.

 | Thank you GalaxyRG . Great A/V quality as usual. This is a thoroughly engrossing, and moving, account of the group who championed the rights of women to control their own bodies, and to decide for themselves if they chose to become mothers. Pre-Roe, women were suffering and dying at the hands of illegal abortion providers, and were being profited from by organized crime. This group helped upwards of 11,000 women avoid those outcomes. A fascinating, and thoroughly informative documentary. This is one to share with any teenagers pondering the abortion questions posed by the recent SCOTUS leak. Everyone should be aware of the civil liberties we stand to lose if we return to the dark days described here. Thanks again GalaxyRG very much appreciated   |
