 | I had a friend who was a park ranger up on Fire Island and he would invite us up every summer and we always stayed at the "Barracks" I guess you would call it. It was between The Pines (We lasted 1 night trying to party there. It was just tweaked out, snotty Chelsea , gym douches, guys literally having sex in public, everywhere you went.) Not our scene so we walked down the beach to Cherry Grove and it was like night and day. Super chill, everyone was so nice. No pretention to be had (and no one was doing it right in our faces) I laughed because, as an ally, the scenes we saw were exactly what gay men always complained about being stereotyped as. Yet here it was literally happening everywhere we walked. I asked my Gay friends why is every "Gay" destination located at the end of the earth? You want to be accepted yet here you are hiding away. So weird. Never did get a "Str8" answer. haha. |
