 | Just finished watching the first couple of episodes. It is a slow burner I'll agree, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons play their roles brilliantly, and I'd expect nothing less from these accomplished actors. Rather than dragging out the "what dark secret are they keeping" for half the series making you wonder whether it is worth finding out, this is revealed right at the start of the first episode (I won't give any spoilers) leaving you with a "what on earth is going on" moment. It's up to you then whether you want to carry on watching and find out, or find something more to your tastes. For me, this made me want to watch even more and will carry on to the end as it has me and my partner thoroughly intrigued. The slow pace is a pleasant change from the fast paced action as it gives a chance to become familiar with the roles being acted out, their backstories and the actual life they lead separated from the sci-fi aspect. |
