 | I remember watching this when it premiered on NBC around 1979. Back then when Cable TV was still a new thing, there was no internet, no on demand movies. The 3 TV networks, ABC, NBC, CBS actually showed theatrical movies and every time a theatrical movie is broadcast for the first time on network TV, they had a big Premiere for it. I remember ABC had the rights to broadcast the James Bond films about a year or so after the latest one leaves theaters. At the time folks see a movie in the theater once or twice and that was it. IF you want to see it again you will have to wait for it to premiere on network TV. Also VCR was still a new item and very very expensive and very few movies were on VHS and Betamax for rent, not until around 1981 did they start becoming more popular. |
