My notes
This is a recode of the previous entry I've made for this title. The only change
is a recoded Act Two which had outof synch audio. My thanks to the viewer who alerted me
to a flaw I had missed in editing. The recoded Part two was redone from scratch.
An extraordinary performance by Ralph Fiennes considering the role took a tremendous and
obvious toll on him. You can see it and it's painful. Still, this presentation was made
available to me but press articles at the time described how the role can be painful for the wearing of prop and
costume that contorts the wearer. Please consider this while watching.
I had to think twice about adding it. It was pro shot for a live audience in 2016. Since Fiennes has had many fine roles since such as in "The Dig" he must have recovered.
This capture came from an anonymous source. More on that in the NFO. The original content was a much larger file size.
This Richard III is done in modern dress and focuses on the characters rather than the props of a period costume version of the show. But that does not give it a lack of interest. From the early scenes there are curious pieces of stage business referencing modern times. All this is fun for the live audience. Fiennes while playing the evil Richard gives the audience much more than they see (see remarks above.) Aislin McGuckin ("Outlander" and many video roles) was last seen in my file group playing the Duchess of Malfi and a character role in "Volpone" which are also available in my file share group. Vanessa Redgrave is a rare treat as the dowager Queen Margaret.
The included NFO file has more on my file group and this production. NFO's can be read with
a free download program called Notepad++ (not to be confused with Microsoft) and is also a
tool for reading subtitle files.
