Disclaimer: This book is a student book prepared by the Indonesian government in order to
implementation of the 2013 Curriculum. This student book was compiled and reviewed by various parties in the
under the coordination of the Ministry of Education and Culture, and is used in stages
the beginning of the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum. This book is a "living document" that always
repaired, updated, and updated according to the dynamics of needs and
changing times.

Mathematics is a universal language and hence the mathematical ability of students of one country is very easy compared to other countries. Apart from that, mathematics is also used as a measuring tool to determine the progress of education in a country. We know PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) and TIMSS (The International Mathematics and Science Survey) which regularly measure and compare, among other things, the progress of mathematics education in several countries. Such international standards provide direction in formulating mathematics learning in SMP/MTs. The results of the comparison between what we teach so far and those assessed internationally show there are differences, both in terms of material and competence. These differences become the basis for formulating Mathematics learning in the 2013 Curriculum. The Mathematics Student Book for Class VII SMP/MTs 2013 Curriculum is written based on materials and competencies that are adapted to these international standards. Regarding material, for example, in addition, since grade VII, he has been taught, among others, about numbers, sets, algebra and their applications, comparisons, geometry and data presentation. A balance between number math and pattern and shape math is always maintained. Knowledge competence is not only to understand conceptually but to apply it through procedural knowledge in solving mathematical problems. Thinking skill competencies are also honed to be able to solve problems that require high order thinking such as reasoning problem solving through modeling, proof and estimation/approach. At the beginning of each chapter in this student book, a chapter cover is presented. This section contains interesting illustrations and brief descriptions related to the subject matter of the chapter in question. In addition, at the beginning of the chapter, the basic competencies and learning experiences that you will achieve in each chapter are also presented.
