Artist: Smack
Album: Smack
Country: USA
Released: 1968
Genre: Heavy Psychedelic Rock
Format: MP3 CBR 320

Formed in July 1968, during a six-week stay at the Midwestern Band & Art summer camp in Lawrence, Kansas, Smack entertained vacationers with uncomplicated acid rock and roll. During their farewell concert and after the performance of one of the songs of the named property, the group was expelled from the territory with a bang by order of the director of the camp. A few days later, the quartet went into the studio and in August recorded an album of cover songs for a small group of campers who had booked it in advance and arranged the recording itself. Among these now extremely rare records are the well-known rock hits of the time "Purple Haze", "Fire", "Sunshine Оf Your Love", "I'm So Glad", "Swlabr", "Manic Depression", " Set Me Free" and "For What It's Worth." About 100-150 copies of the album were released on vinyl and distributed among a narrow circle of people - its customers. It is possible that the wrong speed was chosen during the final mixing and recording of the album, as it sounds much better when played at a slightly higher tempo. Nevertheless, the album is one of the most requested garage releases of the sixties. After the recording of this record, the band members never saw each other again and did not communicate with each other. The album was re-released for the first time only in 1994, but again with a circulation of only 300 copies. Guitarist Phil Brown continues to play blues-rock to this day and in 2006 he even released a solo album “The Jimi Project” with covers of famous Jimi Hendrix songs, which he began to encroach on as far back as 1968...
