The Farmers’ Country Showdown S06 E11-E15 (1280x720p HD, 50fps, soft Eng subs)

Series celebrating inspirational farming families and the rural events where they showcase their hard work, as they try to win the top prizes.

E11 Mid-Somerset Show
Rhian is a smallholder farmer, part-time vet and mother to two young children who have inherited her love of animals and farming. The Mid-Somerset Show is where she cut her teeth showing cattle when she was a child. Now she returns to the competition ring with her own coloured ryeland sheep, and best supporting husband Mark at her side. As judging ramps up and emotions run high, the kids step up to the occasion and style it out in the ring. Over in the cattle corner, dairy shorthorn farmer Fred is returning to defend his championship title, so the pressure is on to perform well. As the sixth-generation farmer in the family and determined to do the work on the farm himself, he is proud to see ten-year-old daughter Izzy following in his footsteps and taking home her own prizes from Show Day.

E12 Lewes Famers’ Market
Owena and Ivan are so enthusiastic about farming life that they want other people to experience it too! As well as running workshops using wool from their flock of Shetland sheep, they also produce slow-grown lamb, known as hogget. A lifeline for selling direct to customers is the award-winning Lewes Farmers Market in East Sussex. It's also an important income stream for local cattle farmers Maxine and Ivan, who are literally building their farm from scratch. Having sold their house to buy a plot of land, they are living in a mobile home and dream of moving into their permanent house in the future. Although the farmers market is always worth the hard work, this time the Great British weather does its best to make the day a wash-out rather than a sell-out. /

E13 Macclesfield Sheep Dog Trials
Sheep farmer James is proud that his 12-year-old son Charlie seems to be following in his farming footsteps. They are also both passionate about running their beloved sheepdogs and are heading to the prestigious Macclesfield sheepdog trials. It's a magnet for the country's best sheepdog triallists, who try their luck at winning a place on the national team. Also hoping to add to his huge trophy collection is Cumbrian farmer and auctioneer Ross, with his teenage son Oliver. While both sons manage to keep their cool and control their dogs, their experienced fathers must overcome pre-trial nerves, a challenging course, difficult sheep and bad weather.

E14 Shipbourne Farmer's Market
Shipbourne Farmers Market in Kent is a vital shop window for self-taught local farmers Carla and Robin, who use the milk from the family dairy herd to produce their own cheese. Since starting 15 years ago, they have become completely carbon neutral and have also picked up lots of awards for their cheese. Today at the market, Carla is looking to make plenty of sales. Meanwhile, Kent fruit farmer Tom helps run the family business and is keen to carry on his grandfather's work promoting the home-grown Kent cobnut. As a local, Shipbourne Farmers Market holds a lot of childhood memories for him. However, today he is hoping for a windfall of fruit sales and that customers will be interested in bagging some of his new cobnut granola.

E15 Staffordshire County Show
Peter, now in his twenties, has been rearing Berkshire pigs since he was ten. He last competed at the Staffordshire County Show when he was 14. Having balanced university with work on the family farm in the Peak District, he wants to forge a future in farming. If his prized Berkshire pigs win rosettes in the competition ring, it will be not just recognition for him but also a much-needed boost for the breed, one of the rarest and oldest in the UK. While Peter hopes his pigs don't give him the runaround, dedicated farming couple Lianne and Mark are working hard to grow their pedigree herd of South Devon cattle on rented land near Leek in Staffordshire. They are focused on giving their cows the ultimate beauty treatment so they shine in the show ring. South Devon cattle may be known as gentle giants, but overnighting at the showground, keeping up their energy levels and performing well in front of the judge are just some of the challenges they face to add more hard-earned rosettes to their collection
