A boy (Jr.) seeks a replacement for his father, who disappeared shortly after his birth, and bonds with his uncle Charlie and the patrons at a bar in Long Island. Uncle Charlie works as a bartender there and knows all of the staff and regular patrons. He is a charismatic individual and all of his friends are eager to initiate Jr. into their rituals. Jr. listens closely to the stories of these men and relies on these stories for guidance on how to live.

 | @ Guest-2730 Yeah, Kevin Spacey is/was the Master of Facial Expressions  The fat chick in the Ozzie drama 'The Tourist' pulled off quite a few goods ones too - just something I notice  Even Casey (Ben's brother) has more 'range' in the facial expressions department But Ben's unchanging, fixed expression was way too noticeable in this, well, to me anyway, I had to tune it out in order not to spoil the movie. Ben should get a part in the Italian Montalbano detective drama where all the 'actors' appear to be just saying lines, many shouty like they are on a stage Even the 'mourner' who turns up at every funeral, there is just something missing, like he is crying his lines Anyway, I have went off at a tangent - back to Ben |

| Ben Affleck, the actor who can't act and has but one emotion to show: a blank face. And that's often enough all that is needed in a Hollywood movie: a face that isn't too off putting. |

| The movie could have been quite alright, albeit that the script is somewhat bland. But who the hell did the casting of the boy? He doesn't look anything like any of his parents. Heck, he doesn't even look like his older self. Different hair color, different eye color, different skin tone. A huge swing in the miss, which makes the movie rather unwatchable. |

| When I see  I movie with Ben Afleck I can't help but wonder how it would have fared if Casey Afleck had been cast instead But I suspect that the producers may have had Casey in mind for the father (character wise ) but they wanted an actor with more 'stature' |

| Watchable enough The first half is better, it dips a bit slightly when J.R. (J.R. is spelled with dots. Period. Watch the movie if you are curious  ) meets Sidney, but quickly recovers again to be almost as good as the first half  Those driving around in the car shots have to be CGI The even have the kid driving the car in the end credits I am sure they are watching a monitor to know when to turn the wheel, but when the kid was driving it lked out of sync  End credits to small read read for any clues as to how it is done  J.R.'s father was the most annoying dickwad imaginable  So annoying that you want to reach through the screen and do something But hey, it is just acting? |
