This movie, although set inside a house, is "stimulating" enough for me to sit and watch. Kids swearing seems irrelevant and could easily just been toned down. A unique story, especially when shot pre-pandemic, can't help to compare situations to present. Anyhow, its a one time watch for me. Its different but watchable enough. |
I found it all very boring, shallow characters sitting around talking |
Thanks for the subtitles Got half way into this and then realised that I couldn't make out most of the dialogue except the swear words and that is most of the dialogue anyway Going to rewind the VHS tape and take it from the top and start all over again with the subtitles included Note to actors: Enunciate clearly |
It's actually a pretty good movie but the major plot element makes no sense there's an easy work around. I think the writer or director realized it and they inserted a line of dialogue to fix it but never visual represented it so it falls apart but the movie is still worth watching. I wish they would have continued on the coarse but the final two shots are the problem the first solidifies the plot hole and the second was predictable. That one line could have completely made this into a memorable movie if it wasn't for the second to last shot. By the time you see the last you already know what is about to happen. The director didn't seem to grasp the idea of suspense. |
If you're capable of ignoring the obvious leftist agenda, it's a pretty fair movie. |
@Guest-3284 it is rated for minimum age 15-18 year olds. Maybe look it up before letting youngsters watch it! The imdb link is provided. |
This movies does nothing but teach kids to swear. We have never seen children swear to much in a movie. Our young ones were copying the foul-mouthed actors as this played. Children are like parrots. We had no choice but to turn it off. Sincerely, concerned parents. |
Very much the bleakest Christmas film I've ever seen. I loved it. Doesn't have much of an agenda since this was written and began filming before the pandemic, but it's impossible not to view certain circumstances and draw your own conclusions in light of the past year. |
Teaching kids to swear? Have you ever seen an American movie? Every third word is the F-word. Not to mention the horrible pronunciation and grammar (which is far worse than foul language, btw.) |
Agenda driven film https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11628854/reviews https://www.theguardian.com/film/2021/dec/01/silent-night-review-jolly-hockey-sticks-its-the-end-of-the-world-keira-knightley https://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/2021/12/02/silent-night-review-keira-knightley-stars-quite-possibly-bleakest/ It also finish filming and then Covid happened so it was reshot in late 2020 to fit current events ? |
