Passion Fruit was a German-Spanish-Dutch pop group best known for the songs The Rigga-Ding-Dong-Song and Wonderland. The group was founded in 1999 in collaboration with their Flensburg production team, Elephant Music, who are also the composers of the songs for Passion Fruit.
On November 24, 2001, two of the three members, Maria Serrano Serrano and Nathalie van het Ende, died in the crash of Crossair flight 3597 near Bassersdorf (Switzerland). The plane crashed in the drifting snow when approaching Zurich Airport. The main reason for the accident was found to be below the minimum flight altitude despite insufficient visibility.American pop singer Melanie Thornton was among the 24 victims.
Debby (Deborah) St. Maarten survived the accident with serious injuries and now lives in her home town Zoetermeer near The Hague.
