The musicians, originally calling themselves “The Esquires,” moved to New York from Westchester County in the mid-60s and worked as a studio group for Laurie Records, recording demos of various songwriters such as Ernie Maresca while writing their own songs. They called their style "psychedelic soul", although in fact they were ordinary clones of "The Young Rascals" and "The Soul Survivors". Things changed for the better when singer, poet and composer Jimmy Curtiss took over their care. He helped the guys to sign a contract with “Decca”, and they helped in the recording of the album to his project - the group “The Hobbits”. The album "Real", produced by Jimmy Curtiss, turned out to be commercial, contained two covers and the band's own songs, but several numbers with good organ and fuzz guitar came out very successful. Curtiss's disagreement with “Decca” was reflected in the fate of “The Bag”, and the group soon disbanded.
