National Theatre Live's 2010 broadcast of Alan Bennett's acclaimed play The Habit of Art, with Richard Griffiths, Alex Jennings and Frances de la Tour, returns to cinemas as part of the National Theatre's 50th anniversary celebrations. Benjamin Britten, sailing uncomfortably close to the wind with his new opera, Death in Venice, seeks advice from his former collaborator and friend, W H Auden. During this imagined meeting, their first for twenty-five years, they are observed and interrupted by, amongst others, their future biographer and a young man from the local bus station. Alan Bennett's play is as much about the theatre as it is about poetry or music. It looks at the unsettling desires of two difficult men, and at the ethics of biography. It reflects on growing old, on creativity and inspiration, and on persisting when all passion's spent: ultimately, on the habit of art.

Alan Bennett used that phrase as the introduction to his monologue as vicar for a sermon in Beyond The Fringe (1961). You can see that in this file group.
This is taken from a rebroadcast of "The Habit Of Art" which was from the first season
of National Theatre Live-to-theatre streaming broadcasts in 2010. This capture is originally in 16:9 ratio (to fit your television screen as the DVDs used to say.) What is lost is a bit of the hard coded Chinese and English subtitles at the two edges.
It cannot be corrected.
The style of The Habit Of Art as a play within a play on a set constructed inside
a bare proscenium stage is reminiscent of Pirandello and Brecht as well. But that aside,
Alan Bennett shows are first and foremost about language even though there are plenty
of sight gags in "The Habit Of Art," "The Madness Of George III" and "People." All these are
in this torrent collection. "The Habit of Art" was extracted from a large play group now
gone extinct. Even So, I have the source given in the NFO file which is in the folder with
the play.
The NFO (info File) folder contains the rest of my torrent file shares. For access to
the NFO file in the folder, get Notepad++. Notepad++ also will open SRT files.
