It has been many years since I heard Styx for the first time. I was in music class in middle school in 1973 or thereabouts - and I had a cool music teacher who liked the track 'Lady' (from the Styx II album) and played it for us in class. Almost fifty years later, they're still churning out great music, even without Dennis DeYoung, sadly. So, for all practical purposes, Styx is now Tommy Shaw's band - and he doesn't disappoint. I haven't had time yet to check out all of the tracks, but so far, I like 'A Monster' which features one of the better guitar solos and the familiar and massive harmonies we've come to expect from Styx over the years. Thank you pmedia, for the early release! |
