Album Info

After completing Low and Heroes, the first two albums of his Berlin trilogy, David Bowie spent most of 1978 traveling the world. During this maousse tour called Isolar II Tour, he sings in front of a million people, during 70 concerts given in 12 countries! Above all, the star is freed from her addiction problems which had so far made her go on stage after having ingested astronomical quantities of cocaine… Recorded in April and May 1978 and published in September of the same year, the live album Stage showed a Bowie in full transition, grappling with his glam beginnings, his soul future and his new wave present.

First published on the occasion of Record Store Days in April 2018, this Welcome to the Blackout (Live London '78) also encapsulates this period. Recorded at Earls Court in London on June 30 and July 1, 1978 by Tony Visconti, this is an unprecedented double live offering versions a bit more energetic than on Stage. The fascinating sound of Low and Heroes' songs loses some of its strangeness on stage. And “old hits” like Rebel Rebel and Ziggy Stardust gain in luxury what they lose in violence, even if on Suffragette City, the singer is totally possessed. Finally, to support the Thin White Duke, guitarists Adrian Belew (lead) and Carlos Alomar (rhythm) knit him often stunning interventions. An unmissable document for Bowie fans.
