PLOT SPOILER AHEAD This is decent enough watchable drama that has a woozy trippy feel (shaky camera) to it as he breaks down. Ben Whishaw is good. As are the rest of the cast. You wouldn't think that Ellie Haddington who has make a lot of good stuff is from Aberdeen, Scotland given her London accent Surge is full of weird occurrences and just gets weirder and weirder. Maybe too weird for some people :) Don't expect much semblance of a storyline. Just basically a series of weird occurrences. Like Ben's character biting into a glass and ripping his teeth out, blowing out water over staff and customers at the airport security (and some of the customers are plain weird, like the guy with the leaky 'bleeding' pen) where he works, making faces at a 5 year old girl on a train, destroying an hotel room, ripping the mattress apart and climbing into it... He commits a couple of robberies (but robs a bank when it would have been easier to shoplift ) merely by passing a note over the counter 'I have a gun. Give me your money'. I thought this was way too easy and was thinking...' why don't they just lock the doors'... and this is how it ends... he does get locked in whilst committing a robbery Funded by BBC Films, BFI (British Film Institute) and the National Lottery |
