 | I thought I'd just have to give this a go, if only to see how a remake would be managed. Sad to report, it was a severe mis. The grasshopper has become an annoying mosquito. I had hoped that this may have drawn on the excellent series "Warrior" which was bizarrely cancelled just it was developing substantial critical mass at the second season's cliff hanger finale that promised a ripping season 3. Now there was a grasshopper on steroids! Here however, we are presented with a tepid, femocentric, YA light, woke adaptation, replete with gay brother, milqtoast love interest and saccharin family values lesson overlaying a magical fantasy premise straight out of a sub high school grade pulp novella. I just couldn't go the distance with this garbage and left before the black lesbian love interest turned up. Maybe there was going to be a rally supporting land rights for gay whales? Sadly I will never know. Avoid this tosh, it will rot your brain. |

 | @ kazaly Hilarious review. I've already downloaded it so I'm obligated to see if I can finish episode 1. Land rights for gay whales? I'm in. Thanks for making me LOL.  EDIT: Later that same evening  Just finished episode 1. My impression is that they produced this new series for one specific demographic: teen and pre-teen girls A magic sword? Fit young chicks doing martial arts? Fighting injustice? It's a teen-angst dream come true. Not the worst TV show I've seen recently, but it's not going into my regular weekly lineup. | Av & sound good. Good points: at least the lead knows some Kung Fu - unlike our David.. Shame some opponents seem not to.. . Erm the Shaolin Monastery is in Henan not Yunnan - only a day's travel but never mind, they shot the China bit in Gui Lin which is a little midway between the two and prettier than either. There are no female monks... but who cares - there are prettier than bald guys :p .. |
