This is another one of those movies with a 'dead person', just saying ;) |
Not a bad watch but as others have said Die Hard in a school, but it shows how easily things like this can happen and how daily school policies and processes can add to the carnage, you do feel sorry for one of the 'bad guys' as you can relate to his school experiences, we know kids can be so f***king cruel |
Howdy Galaxians! I'm on holiday and have been binge-watching movies for the past few days, including this one. To the topic at hand: If this had just been a movie about a school shooting in the USA, I would probably have yawned and been disappointed. As it turns out there's more here than meets the eye. It's also a story about a high school girl with teen angst coming to grips with the loss of her mother to cancer while trying to find the will to let go. i.e., there are two stories unfolding simultaneously, which gave it more depth - and also made it more interesting. As for the school shooting element of the plot; it's graphic, shocking and disturbing - but also extremely well shot, credible and intense. Rating it 5/5 on the TGx 5 ⭐ scale. Audio and video were excellent. Runtime is 1 hour and 43 minutes. Due to the graphic violence and 'adult themes', this should probably be rated 'R', if you have kids. Thanks, GalaxyRG. |
My Review: Basically, it's "Die Hard" set in an American high school. That's it. That's the movie. I was able to attend the premier of this movie. Very disappointed by the pro-2A hype around it, for which there is none in the movie itself. There is a flare of "girl power" at moments, but the ending is morally conflicting for a movie that makes so much effort condemn the antagonists to the benefit of a "blessed are the meek" attitude towards non-violence. And I say this because the heroine turns into a blood-thirsty animal at the end, even hunting and killing the "bad guys" when they're unarmed and defeated -- she revels in torturing and ultimately killing them. So, yeah, so much for that "Christian" good-girl, eh? |
This was pretty good. I didn't fast forward. I watched the whole thing. Thanks. A/V = 7 |
