Tomatometer score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 201 critics reviews. Critics Consensus: A poetic character study on the forgotten and downtrodden, Nomadland beautifully captures the restlessness left in the wake of the Great Recession. |
Despite the jittery frames this is an interesting movie that delivers a fascinating insight into the lives of 'Nomads': Victims of the 2008 recession who lost everything including their home. It follows one such victim's life as she roams the land in search of casual work to make ends meet. These people pick up odd jobs in places such as Amazon, as does Fern (Frances McDormand) for a few weeks before moving on. Frances McDormand puts in a stellar performance as you would expect. The real people with real stories are engaging and sad. Based on the book 'The End of Retirement: When You Can't Afford to Stop Working' this is recommended viewing if you are interested in what these people's lifestyles are all about or just want a decent watch. RIP Swankie:-(O:-D |
Are you ever going to fix this stuttering issue? Every copy I have downloaded from this site and others has the same problem. |
To ALL of you who comment on the video quality!! Simply stop downloading 700mb movies go at lease 3g. |
There are a lot of comments over on IMDB saying that Frances McDormand doesn't really live in a converted van 8o Apparently she lives in a Hollywood mansion 8o Knock me over with a feather duster :D:-@ |
Well said, Guest-1032. Can't add much to that, other than to remind people that this is a 'Screener'. Better quality than a cam but not as good as a normal 720 rip. Good enough to watch, though. One more thing: as Guest-1032 mentioned, this is rather sad - or at least bitter-sweet - if you know that expression - and maybe not the ideal flick to watch during the holidays. Keep it for a rainy day? I'm rating it 4/5 on the TGx 5 star scale for its realism and for the excellent performances by the cast. Thank you, GalaxyRG. |
:! PUBLIC HEALTH WARNING :! his is gonna need REPACKed. The frame jitter will make you seasick. It could give someone an epileptic seizure. If you can't watch strobe lights/flashing images best not to watch it. |
Thanks, Cyberian. Gonna give it a go. Besides, this is probably what my retirement is gonna look like. :facepalm :D Image posted (hover mouse here to see) |
@BONE Here what you are saying B) Have watched the first couple of minutes of this and noticed when the van was driving down the road it was jittering and again when she jogged off after taking a piss/dump in a field. So decided to open up the TV and see what's up. Will now have to refix the tab mounting to the panel and resolder the microprocessors onto the T-Con board and put the TV back together before watching the rest, of what looks like might be a good movie. God damn it. Should have read these comments before taking the TV apart -@ |
