Plot:
Soon after, we learn that Hess is a serial rapist at large in Los Angeles. His modus operandi is to gain entry to the home of a married woman whose husband is away by pretending to be there to repay money loaned by the husband. Once inside, he feigns a headache, pulls out a tin of aspirin, and asks the woman for water. While she is distracted by this errand, he sneaks up behinds her, and then assaults and rapes her. He leaves the tin of aspirin behind as his calling card, leading the police to call him "The Aspirin Kid." Leaving the scene of the first assault portrayed in the film, he is nearly hit by a car. The driver, who is a police detective named Culloran (Steve Cochran), gives him a lift, and the two engage in conversation. The rapist calls himself Arthur Garret, and as the two talk, he learns that Culloran is married, and sees his address on an envelope on the car seat. After getting out of Culloran's car, he writes down the name and address, and the word "married," foreshadowing his later rape of Culloran's wife.

Summary from IMDb

"A detective is assigned to track down and capture a crazed serial rapist."

 My notes

This look back to low budget film making in 1959 leaves the question: Is it a satire on
the beatnik fad or a social problems drama?  Certainly the later themes that emerge are
serious as they are in "Big Operator" and I save those for the viewer with no spoilers.

The signature element of a number of these releases is Mamie Van Doren.
One day we may see "Girls Town" but Olive films or other sources are not offering it
anywhere. She has the billing but Fay Spain is the most sympathetic character.

Also in the show is Irish McCalla who would do "Sheena of the Jungle" for
Saturday morning television and JIm Mitchum, son of Robert,  who would go on to
do "The Victors" which is in this file group.

Charles F. Haas has a long resume for television direction: he has at least one credit
for virtually every one of the series made by WB for TV in the 50's and early 60's.  I
remember many of them and would like to see more released in video sets.

Richard Matheson got a screen writing credit.  Matheson who was very prolific did
scifi titles such as "I Am Legend" if I remember correctly.
