avatarif meacham really wants to achieve an fdr vision, and isn't just being disingenuous(?), then he should actually want biden to lose. unless he is deluded like nearly all of his cohort and audience, which is also very likely. one gets the feeling that biden is sitting around his house/basement with his plethora of corporate ivy league educated "strategists" and advisers shooting the shit, and when "they" let him out of the shadows he tries to play the part of what he imagines an "intellectual politician" (if one can conjure such a concept) would say, given that he is clearly anxious about his enfeeblement and aggressively defensive. as the best useful idiots episode, fresh off the presses, went into deep detail about, as has been outlined in these comments for close to going back a year. and thomas frank firing on all cylinders, he is an american treasure. felt sorry for katie though because matt was so enthusiastic about political commiseration with frank, she even resorted to reading his book during the discussion. that, and her "look" later in the interview was particularly amusing. of course, this doesn't matter at all, she should have just interjected more. they should make their "show" lengthier, or have an additional interview with such awesome subjects such as thomas frank. great interview, they even touch on the recent (much more brave than the nyt exiting) msnbc producer departure. anyway, it is amazing though that meacham and scarborough believe the fdr to reagan "bandwidth" is sufficient to describe american political reality. what are they smoking? the "fdr" wing (represented in the senate by one old jewish man, and maybe if being generous a few other stragglers) hasn't functionally been around since nearly fdr himself, and the very recent glimmering minuscule potential was shown to be just that when it was crushed by a certainly extremely/very non-fdr neoliberal democrat establishment and their propaganda machines (such as chiefly msnbc) during the primaries. the real political "window" is more like trump to the clintons, and that speaks to more rightwing "bandwidth" than the reverse. again, trump miraculously wins, the next four years he drags the republicans further down, the democrats shift left across the board on the state and federal levels, and the neoliberals are proven to be the failures that they really are. that is a win, win, win. if a baleful enemy wants to hang themselves give them rope.
