Discussed Today, In Detail:
‘Not a lot that’s good’: Joy calls out Trump
for saying he’s done more for African Americans
In an interview with Axios, President Trump repeated the claim that he’s done
more for the African American community than President Lyndon Johnson, who
signed the Civil Rights Act. Joy Reid responded, “Sorry, what? Um ok, person who
clearly didn’t listen in history class at that military academy your parents
shipped you off to.”

Where is Trump ‘Master Dealmaker’ during coronavirus relief talks?
Federal unemployment benefits related to the coronavirus expired last Friday. So
that begs the question, where’s the “Master Dealmaker” Donald Trump? Congress
and the White House are at a stalemate on how to ease the economic pain for
millions of Americans.

‘Not good enough:’ Maya Wiley slams Aurora PD apology
for handcuffing Black children
A police dept in Aurora, Colorado says it's sorry after putting innocent Black
girls in handcuffs. Officers mistakenly believed they were riding a stolen car.
This is the same dept responsible for the death of Elijah McClain.

Is Trump suppressing his own voters with
his false attacks against mail-in voting?
Joy says, “Trump is scared of losing in November, so he’s spent an inordinate
amount of time over the past few months baselessly attacking mail-in voting,
while praising absentee ballots, even though they’re exactly the same thing. But
the problem is he may actively be suppressing his own voters.”

Fmr. Liberty University Staffer: ‘Felt like I was back
in the 1950s, 1960s and it hurt’
Several Black staff members and athletes have left Liberty University after the
school’s president, Jerry Falwell Jr., tried to mock Virginia Governor Ralph
Northam on Twitter with a mask that depicted the racist imagery from Northam’s
medical school yearbook. Former Liberty University staffer Keyvon Scott says
there was no room to grow for him there: “It felt like I was back in the 1950s
or 1960s and that hurt. And it’s kinda like how do you maneuver being in a
Christian atmosphere but being looked at like you’re nothing.”
