Renowned for his extreme generosity, the Athenian nobleman Timon has fallen prey to flatterers and false friends, on whom he showers lavish gifts and extravagant hospitality. His loyal steward, Flavius, tries to warn him of the financial consequences of such reckless expenditure, while the cynical philosopher Apemantus mocks his naivety, but Timon ignores them both. When his money runs out and his creditors demand payment, Timon sends confidently to his "friends" for help. When all refuse him, he throws one last party - one that heralds a dramatic change in his attitude to the world.

My notes
Usually the modern dress adaptation seems to cut corners on what one expects of a rousing Shakespeare show. But the last time Timon was recorded was in the 1980's and directed by Jonathan Miller. Miller had the unusual good sense to use one of the glamour girls of an earlier era cast in a small role later in life. You may recall the name Diana Dors.
This production -- as the notes from Stratfored say-- begin in the midst of the crassness of modern life. The role of Timon takes on new meaning from before the interval to after. The acting of Joseph Zeigler is a transformation and well worth the viewing into the second part.
This is from the fund raiser broadcast on streaming media during the theatre closings in 2020. Support these fund raising efforts as you can. The torrent is given so that more people may see the play beyond it's brief run on stream.
