avatarjoe biden's state, delaware, was the last state in the north to end slavery. so based on this journalist's logic, therefore joe biden in a way is a chief promulgator of the legacy of past slavery and historical racism of the worst state outside of the south, for which all the kids, who pondered at his hairy legs that turned blond in the sun while cornpop was a bad dude, suffered under his "representation" and exhaustive legislative stream of racism. anita hill, "crime" bills, the draconian and hypocritical debt bill, venally and relentlessly helping credit companies' legalized grift for decades, all the tip of the iceberg... alas, the pulitzer prize is the pinto of prizes. although, sartre had it right when he rejected his nobel and all other "official honors". this journalist is simply, like everyone, (including this commenter who at least does admit) projecting opinion upon opinions of what is opined constitutes popular opinion. are historical figures of any race "revered"? hardly, the average american can't begin to understand the present societal predicament politically or culturally in any significant ways, let alone start to "revere" historical figures which appear on fiat currency of which they know nearly nothing about. if anything popular blacks are considered heros in america, and rightfully so for their achievements, need anyone enumerate the many examples? within music, literature, entertainment, sports, politics (obama!), culturally speaking americans of all stripes/colors revere black american cultural icons. that's why clarence page, with his endearing stutter (as opposed to biden's supposed one to cover for his senility), has the right perspective, and this "wokeness" of project 1619 is as usual preaching to the choir ever in a search for more victims to blanket in the present. racism exists, slavery existed. acknowledging racism isn't a springboard for blaming the current generation of germans for the holocaust, just as it isn't the current "white people of today" who are responsible for the many per capita disparities between different cohorts of american races. one can go blame whatever cohort of racist asshole white americans back in 1619 and onwards all one wants to, it is a pointless endeavour though. meanwhile in today's world anyone edified already knows about disparities, racism, etc, and anyone who doesn't isn't going to be convinced by the goddamn new york times magazine of all places... two cents...
