Image errorUnsung Stories by Phil Alvin  from Slash Records 1985

“Un ‘Sung Stories’” was warmly received at the time of release but the Slash label was not yet fully committed to the CD market and chose to issue it only on vinyl and cassette. The album didn’t receive a CD release until the 21st century, when a Japanese label put out a limited edition.

My notes

I failed to get a good upload previously with this.  This time
I'm adding the cover art in the folder so that it maintains a good perspective.  It's a great image.

Dave Alvin's band was The Blasters.

This is his brother Phil Alvin.   AllMusic or one of the
archive sites can give more detail on Phil Alvin.  The track list is amazing which is why I prize it so highly and have both CD and an LP
edition found on the net.   The sound is not rock and roll.  Blues are on Un Sung Stories but also Sun Ra's jazz and ultimately Phil Alvin's solo work.

From My LP other artists on the recording are

Sun Ra and His Astro Infinity Arkestra
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band
and
The Jubilee Train Singers on "Death In The Morning"

avatarThis was from a period when I was doing a volunteer radio show at the local university campus.  I was not
part of the U.  Slash Records and many others sent promos and I followed up on Dave and Phil Alvin with
other studio promos like The Blasters  "American Music."  I have a few more to do for torrents on various
artists.

thanks for the comment
