I hadn't realized that last option. Yes that's ideal: no having to move or time past the Presenter remarks and the opening interview. You indicate it works well. Then it can work for literally any language even if you just edit the file in Notepad ++ or Subtile Edit. I'm too green at doing such things to try it. [Update: I now use the translater programs regularly with good success] |
You can easily translate one of the given SRTs (text file) to Italian. (Copy everything and paste it in Google translator.) Or download Subtitle Edit, f.e., and translate the subs. I can't, I've reached the words' limit :( :) |
I think an Italian sub can be added from opensubtitles.com at this location: https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/subtitles/wozzeck-alban-berg-claudio-abbado-wiener-staatsoper-1987 [use the orange button... these sites have ads blended in] In Wozzeck the subtitles are SRT files in a separate folder. Unzip the download above and add the SRT to that folder. An opera is a fixed length so a foreign subtitle from another production should work. Thanks to the uploader. I heard the Met radio broadcast and got interested in the Opera. I'm going to see if this works myself. The usual internet cautions at downloads apply. |
Subtitles come with the cinemacast. The Met decides which languages to include. It's not fair to ask for extra subs. |
An opera is not "fixed lenght". Each conductor will pace it differently and timings may even vary from performance to performance under the same conductor. Sutitles from a different performance will need to be individually re-timed. |
Grazie tante Maurice! (gscorpio30: Ma leggi il sub in spagnolo. :)) |
