VPN Leak Checking

When using an anonymity or privacy service like VPN, it is extremely important that all traffic originating from your computer is routed through the anonymity network. If any traffic leaks outside of the secure connection to the network, anyone monitoring your traffic will be able to log your activity.

Types of VPN leaks:
  • Plain IP leaks: User’s public IP addresses (IPv4 or IPv6) are leaking via the browser
  • IP Traffic leaks: Traffic leaves device outside of VPN tunnel
  • DNS leaks:
         - DNS traffic leaves the device outside of the VPN tunnel
         - DNS traffic leaves via the tunnel but goes to a DNS server not run by the VPN provider
  • WebRTC leaks: User’s public IP addresses (IPv4 or IPv6) are leaking via the browser’s WebRTC functionality

    Advanced VPN Test:

If you are serious about security and online anonymity, you will want to run your VPN through advanced tests to identify any problems. In other words, don’t rely only on the basic tests described above.

    Thanks for the info! :)
My VPN does it's job. The tests only show 2 addresses both in the connected country.
Here's another site with lots of info and links to leak tests: https://restoreprivacy.com/vpn-test/

I also suggest to always check your VPN https://securitygladiators.com/vpn-test-tool/ if it's leaking or if it's working fine as it should be.

    https://bash.ws/torrent-leak-test

Bash.ws has a torrent ip leak test , dl the .torrent file and it updates with the IP you are downloading the torrent from.

In the times of governments forcing your ISP to introduce malware into your traffic, its really worth mentioning hardware firewalls.

There is simply no reason to let the router your isp controls into your network, or to let any packet not addressed to your vpn leave your network.

While ipfire and pfsense provide great firewalls, you really only need an openwrt installation with an iptables whitelist for vpn ips. You can get a lot of commercial routers they support on second hand markets.

The problem here is knowing what vpn ips to whitelist / which to put in your openvpn config. But using a non linux system and proprietary vpn software is really asking for trouble anyway, so that should be easy enough.

edit: They arent doing this for warez, but my point still stands. Also pin your certificates

Running a vpn on openwrt or ddwrt then running another vpn on your linux machine running iptables is always good practice, then run a socks5 on your torrent client lol :_:D The more vpns you go through the slower your speed but if you want just a machine to download torrents 2 vpns and a socks5 on the torrent client is fine, just let it run 24/7 with sonarr and radarr.
Never ever tell anyone how many proxies you run. :_:P
