| Greetings Torrent Galaxy! The correct answer is (favorite music playlist) If you guessed correctly, please PM me to claim your fabulous prize. To those who were hoping for something naughty, I apologize. And since this post is about music, I'd like to take a moment at the outset to thank all of our talented and dedicated music uploaders for sharing their goodies. I try to hand out rep, positive ratings and the odd supportive comment whenever possible but it sometimes doesn't seem like enough. So without further ado, a BIG thank you to all of the TGx music uploaders: pmedia, vtwin88cube, djdezzie, was95, DarkAngie, sherb, pucholoco, ZBYSZEK3k, millecapelli, tifon, Kingaym, mickjapa108, oneanight, Ksenia, Only2try, DaScubaDude, mainlyclassical, angiebell, ElsonRoa, transea, the member formerly known as SweetSkunk and our fearless leader miok, who sneaks into the fray now and then with a surprise Hi-res FLAC treat. Sorry if I missed anyone. I think TGx has the best music uploaders anywhere on web. Cheers to all of you. 🥂 🎉🎈 Back to the topic: So I was cruising around my neighborhood last week with my cellphone in my backpack and my Bose QC35II headphones cranked up as usual and I started to become annoyed. Song after song started to play, and I found myself hitting the 'next song' button on my headphones, again and again and again. It's my fault: I keep roughly 12,000 tracks on my cellphone and usually shuffle the whole lot. It's just too much. Cut to the chase. I'm on the 4th day of a 5 day holiday at the moment, so, a few days ago, I set out on a little mission: to create the ultimate playlist. With songs you never get tired of hearing. The best of the best, in other words. Basically, weeding out the great songs from the good ones to create a playlist you could live (or die) with if you found yourself shipwrecked on the proverbial deserted island. I sat down and opened my 3 TB of music files, which, thanks mainly to the TGx uploaders mentioned above, now contains over 100,000 tracks. It's a fair amount, but less than some people have. If CBS launches a TV series called 'Music Hoarders: The Disease Nobody Talks About', I stand a fairly good chance of being selected. 😂 After 3 days of searching, copying and deleting, I have narrowed my new ultimate playlist down to just 800 tracks. I thought I'd have a lot more than that, and I'm not necessarily finished with it, but from 100,000 down to 800? Yikes. Is that too few? Am I too fussy? Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care? (lyrics from Chicago's 1969 debut album) These are the questions going through my mind this morning, as well as that song from Chicago. Just wondering about other people. Do you have a 'favorites' playlist, and if so, how many songs are in it? Feel free to share your comments, silly or serious. So, how big is your 'favorites' playlist? | Howdy Mafketel & Soup! Thanks for jumping in with your comments. Nice to hear what other people are up to with their tunes and playlists. I just thought it was weird that my favorites playlist is so small with such a large collection to choose from. Maybe it's related to getting older and becoming more demanding about what goes into my ears? So Soup is a Deadhead and digs the Indian sitar? I haven't evolved quite that far yet 😂 although I do enjoy the occasional Mongolian hard rock throat singing. ( see The Hu @ https://www.thehuofficial.com/about-1 ) Don't wanna veer too far off-topic, but these guys are awesome. Rock on dudes. ☮ PS: While I'm here and chatting about music, I'd also like to apologize for not participating in the other music threads on TGx, like 'What song are you listening to now? etc. I'm in a country where Youtube (and all Google sites) are blocked, and my free VPNs are slow and unreliable, and sometimes don't work at all. When I click on those topics, I see blank white pages, if that makes sense? Just wanted people to know that I'm not lazy or uppity, I just can't watch Youtube vids - or anything else connected to Google. Last edited by kentk9 on 2021-05-05 09:23:33 | |

| Howdy miok and sherb! When you guys hit the road, are you shuffling all of your tracks - or do you have a separate playlist (or playlists) containing only favorite tracks? What I'm looking for is the number of songs in your 'favorites playlist' - if you get my drift? Sorry if that wasn't clear in my admittedly long original post. 🤪 i.e, have you narrowed down your tracks into a 'best of' collection? Last edited by kentk9 on 2021-05-05 02:04:11 | |

| My playlist for the car changes month to month, the current one in the car has 343 tracks of mainly Rock, Punk and Country, next month it could be 60's, classical, Electric Swing, blues....who knows!! depends on my mood I don't really have a set playlist. Sorry | |

| Howdy sherb Thanks for sharing the additional details. Don't be sorry. Up until this week, I didn't have a favorites playlist either. I just got tired of hitting the 'next song' button on my headphones over and over again - and decided to make a playlist that would stand the test of time. And that's the reason I posted this topic. I was just curious to see what other people do. I know lots of peeps have multiple playlists. For me, it just seemed easier to put all of my favorites in one file. As I mentioned above, it's not as big as I thought it would be, with only 800 tracks @ 34 GB. Thanks again for popping in, m8. 🥂 | |
