Hello TGx family, I got a question and need your assistance/help.

I use uTorrent 3.5.5 and have several magnet torrents, mostly TV Series packs...which I've yet to download(due to less disk space :P) and I wanted to either move to qBittorrent or probably the uTorrent 2.2.1 25302(one of the best and popular versions of it). Can you please tell me on how I can move these magnet links as I don't really want to magnet them individually for all the series I have? In much simpler words, all I need to do is shift the magnet torrents(which are not yet downloaded) from one client to another. I can see that when you right click a torrent, it says Copy Magnet URI, but I would like it if it was possible to add all these torrents in a single go, rather than manually copying and pasting them to the new client.

Here is the current status of the uTorrent - Image error

Thanks again for all your help!O:-D

In my experience, you ONLY need to downgrade to utorrent v2.2 by:
  • installing it,
  • then running it. B)

All that data is saved in resume.dat (if  memory is correct)  &  should load properly when u downgrade B)

So basically I can uninstall the current version first and then install the 2.2.1 and it shall show all of my torrents on the homepage without manually adding or making any changes?
Also, could you please tell me how to do the exact same thing on qBittorent as well? Anyone? :)

    Thanks again SweetSkunk:_blocked: :)

Yes, just leave the box unchecked to clear settings.

That will leave the resume.dat file,   for the new version v2.2 to recognize. B)

  • Highlight everything you want to 'transfer' in utorrent
  • right click,  Copy Magnet URI

  • then 'Add Torrent Link' in qBittorrent
  • your list should auto-load in the dialog box,  then click Download

    Image error

    Hope that helps. :-)B)

Thanks a ton SweetSkunk:_blocked: for the tremendous help.  One last and final question before I do all these. Since my HDD is dying and I'm planning to get a new SSD, all I need from the uTorrent is the resume.dat file right? Nothing else is needed?

You need the actual torrent data files as well.

How do I get it if I haven't started the torrents? Only when I start the torrent does it download the .torrent file as well as the main file right? I've only just magnet-ed them and haven't started the torrents yet.

So, you have stuff queued up............. but you're also switching hard drives  AND  clients :-):-)

    basically:
  • save Magnet Links to .txt file
  • replace hard drive
  • setup new client
  • add the Magnet Links from .txt file
    B)

  • cleanup anything you no longer need/want
    :D

Wait, how were you adding these torrents to uTorrent? Through the Add torrent from URL option? Because that's what I did and only the first magnet link on that list is being added. How did you manage to add them?

Well, let's go with me using qBittorrent...

  • Is there a similar option in uTorrent because I accidentally removed a couple of torrents now from my client to check this procedure and want to add them back altogether. The magnet URIs are in my clipboard now :P This option of adding multiple torrents only works with qBittorrent I guess?

Honestly,   the original post does not mention ...  switching to a new Hard Drive aswell...

in this case,   would suggest a simple downgrade to utorrent v2.2  (as mentioned above)

You should be up  &  running in no time.   :DB)

I'm really sorry for all the trouble....and I am actually going with a fresh windows Installation on the new SSD. So in that case I only need the 'resume.dat' file, right? Anything else if I am going back to utorrent 2.2?

It's no trouble really,  just trying to get the BIG picture, thats all

Cause if you're also doing a "fresh windows Installation on the new SSD",  that sorta changes things :-)

For example, u won't have to "uninstall" anything, as it will just get wiped  when u do the fresh install. :|

After knowing more  &  with all things considered, my suggestion would be:

  • salvage / save any actual content (TV shows, Movies, etc)  to an External Drive

  • replace failing drive  &  get Windows set up

  • install utorrent v2.2

  • search for  &  once again add downloads    by clicking magnet link(s)
