Back to real to answer question. SaM never read. blog copy paste explained crf not fps encoding rate.

Banhammer what cpu,resolution,x265 profile?
thats what encoding rate depend on

fx8350 and i tried on fast, slow & very slow. Was roughly 20-30fps and took about 1h 30min to encode a 20 min vid.

Still taking digs at other members.

looking at benchmark 20-30fps average is fast for fx8350 HD vid
whats vid fps?maybe high source framerate make it slow.

benchmark http://x265.ru/en/x265-hd-benchmark/
looky and learny sam I aint benchmark shit, I aint takin credit for shit.I give source
that how doing it real, we learning?

Hello,

I  am new in encoding and I am facing a problem in proper synchronizing the video with audio.
e.g.,
I have two movie sources, the first movie is of 2:40:30 and the second is of 2:11:26.
In the second movie, many scenes are cut from the movie and I want to properly synchronize the second movie audio over the first movie video as the second movie is only dubbed in local language and movie scenes were cut during dubbing.

I am using gMKVExtractGUI for extracting audio/video/subtitles/chapters and MKVToolnix for merging it.

Hmmm.  Have no idea..  almost seems impossible..

Maybe someone like B4ND1T69Image error may be able to give some insight..

It does make sense, mate, How come may handle the Runtime? as you're saying the first movie's runtime is 2h 40m and the second has 2h 11min, if you rip the audio, the the question is how come you force encoding software to synchronize audio to the video which is 2h 40m, what would you add to cover up audio on 29 mintues?

I believe you're about to make dual-audio thing, original audio and the dubbed one's. else, you are willing to add dubbed audio on original movie video?

1. Possibilty > Rip both audio's and use some type of audio editor, where you can run original audio/language to those cut scenes to keep original audio to cover the runtime. and export the audio, use this exported version on encoding software and add original audio as in default, or make dual-audio or keep the single audio according to your choice if you want dubbed audio on the original movie. (While ago, a friend of mine told me, he had watched a hindi dubbed version of tamil movie, he noticed a bunch of sessions contains tamil only and other rest was in hindi, it was around 17 minutes from overall runtime)

2. Possibility > Find out the other versions of the dubbed movie, maybe any other uploader has the full dubbed audio.

Let's see if anyone else have a easy solution, nothing impossible! :)

Yup, I want to fill those non-dubbed parts/gaps with original audio. For some movies and anime have a single removed part while mostly movies and anime have many removed scenes/part from whole video. What audio/video cutter and joiner should I use?

Prom3th3uS wrote:

Currently, I am doing this but for many movies and anime it is difficult now so I want to make my own synchronized encodes.

No matter what you do your going to have 29 mins of different dialogue/audio if you want to sync audio 2 onto 1...?...(depending on what it is)

Easiest way to do it is by running duel encoders:D....no need to extract anything first.
This will give you a perfectly sized Hybrid Audio File:-*
(i did the same thing previously for Midway)

Your audio file will be 2:40:30....2:11:26 will be audio 2 with audio 1 used to fill in the missing gaps...
You can then make a sub file to hard/softcode over the missing audio pieces...or find the missing audio first and stitch that in.
Sorry, B4ND1T69:_trusted_uploader::_sitefriend::_sitelover::_junkie::_kitty::_sun::_turtle: I am totally n00b in encoding. I am not getting your point. Can you again explain those bold quoted part with different method?

Do you like command line for some reason, Handbrake provides a good GUI if you wanted to make
things easier for yourself.
As to your settings I always prefer 2 pass encoding set to an average bitrate.

Using both crf & qp isnt sensible, crf means use a variable qp, so it cannot also be fixed at 23.
qmin & qmax dont do anything in libx265, the are libx264 params (and default to 0 and 69 anyway).
The x265 versions are qpmin & qpmax, and again they default to 0 & 69 [and are of course unused if using a fixed qp].

Also, what is the "copy -c:t?" for ?
I actually had to look up 't' as Ive never seen it used, its for attachments.
Perhaps you actually mean to use 's', for subtitles ?

:_B)

"-c:t? copy" is for copy all attachments in the file and "?" is when you are not sure if there are attachemts, so you set "?"
and yes, "s", is for subtitles, also you can use "-map_chapters 0" to copy the chapters.

Yes, as I noted, t = attachments (and I know what the ? is for). :_B)

That wasnt the point of my question, which was why are they using that specific option.
I've never known anyone use attachment streams - if its for subtitles, they should be using 's'. :_:)

Ohh, the attachments are not necessary when you have .srt subtitles just for .ass.
And "t" includes all files, images and fonts, not just one type like "s" or "a"
I use that option to copy either from one video to another or to the same video
:_:D

I don't know if this is considered coding...
I'm not real savvy so bear with me.
I use Plex to watch movies on my TV. For some reason is doesn't load TV shows so...
Lately when I try to convert and burn an MKV file ConvertXtoDVD won't load it and says "codec tag unsupported."
I come back, download a different MKV file, same TV episode and it will convert and burn.
I use Handbrake but I'm just wanting to know what the difference is in MKV files and what to look for when downloading.
You guys are all alright in my opinion. 😁

MKV is a container usually containing either an mp4 video with subtitles or an H.265 video with subtitles, that being said videos that are mp4 (non MKV) could contain an Mpeg4 video file, H.264 video file and even an H.265 tho most would adopt mkv for h.265. Mp4 isnt capable of subtitles without an accompaning .srt file which will have the subtitles. On searching for plex playback capability seems it is not great for h.265 HEVC playback whilst it is possible it doesnt like highly compressed files so probably best to avoid it or convert it to mp4 etc. Handbrake is great use that as needed:)
Maybe someone has a better explaination hope this helps some.

Hello,

I'm using Windows 10, Nvidia GTX  VGA with VLC (latest update, default settings) and I've noticed nasty artifact effects at/on dark spots/scenes during every 1400 MB 1080p movie releases (see picture).

Image error

Are my settings faulty, should I tweak something or how can I improve this on my end? (thinking about Nvidia Control Panel perhaps etc)

To be honest...that looks like the pattern on the very dark curtain in the background:_eyes.....very faint but noticable pattern that looks like noise due to the very slight change in lighting needed to show it.

It could also be due to the size limits on the file...always 1400MB meaning the bitrate is forced to fit, instead of taking what is needed when encoding..?....meaning it will always try to save bitrate on dark scenes:_pirate

Its just one screenshot I made, I've been watching horror movies lately and as you can imagine, there are a lot of dark spots throughout the movies... so its quite noticeable. I've noticed this pattern and wanted to ask around if I can do anything to make it better.

You will get this on most dark movies due to the slight light needed to show differences in dark scenes...also due to the pixel sizes/grouping of the pixels in dark scenes.:_eyes
You can re-encode them with a noise reduction filter to smooth the edges...?...or refilter the light...?...or turn the brightness down a couple of points on your tv and increase the contrast at the same time equally....this will take away some of the artifacts/noise but give you a slightly darker image...increasing the contrast should highlight the light left to compensate.:_pirate

Hi I am a newbie encoder and uploader, I have trouble encoding from HDR flim to SDR.

Here are the screenshot between SDR(output) and HDR(source)

Image error
Image error

--color-primaries=bt709
--transfer-characteristics=bt709
--matrix-coefficients=bt709

These are my setting to convert HDR to SDR

I use NEAV1E, which is a simple av1 encode software.
I think my SDR output video color is so pale, far from source.

Are there any setting I missed to use, OR I should use other color-transfer software first?
