Recently finished a Chinese series "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty" series 1. Excellent stories and characters in each episode. Now onto series 2 Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty: To The West, even getting better. Series 1  is 36 episodes and Series 2 will be 40 episodes. Very much in the vain of Di Renjie/Detective Dee.

I saw four episodes An of The Decamerone on Netflix. And despite the beautiful sets and costumes it didn't really captivate me.

I am still entwined in 'Invasion' and 'Boardwalk Empire' and that's me for a while i think.
Sent out a posse and rounded up some 'open matte' of some of my favourites yesterday so all is well.

Polleke, try and find the old movie from the early 70's of Decameron, it is far superior, if a little antiquated .

Time for a Western this evening and going to try the first part of Horizon and see what it is like.
As far as Kevin Costner Westerns are concerned i liked Open Range and Dances With Wolves but Wyatt Earp was a bit dreary i thought and i only watch the full Directors version of 'Dances' so it is not the length of the movie i cannot get along with.
This is a difficult genre to hit the spot though i think, it's all been done before and a Western is pretty black and white in it's make up, very tricky to come up with a unique storyline and plot without people accusing it of not being a Western.
I do like long Movies so it has a good chance of being liked by my good self and the upload looks excellent  :_B) :_pirate

I see this Horizon first instalment  is receiving some negative criticism, not from me you will not as i think it is absolutely brilliant.
The landscape photography is gorgeous and to be candid the brutal nature in the movie is really what the West was, sheer brutality.
A lot more realism in this movie than any John Wayne 'giggle and shoot em', i am overly impressed and never expected it to be so good, i did say in my original post that Kevin Costner has made a few duds but not in this case as i think he has nailed it really well this time.
Top marks from me 10 out of 10, look forward to the other two movies :_B) :_pirate

There has been some fresh uploads of this Trilogy lately but i will start with the 'Open Matte'  torrent below as i prefer full screen.
This looks interesting and i have not watched it yet, i grabbed the new 2160p 'rips' as well for a comparison, the Open Matte torrent does work quite well despite the poor numbers showing as i have just downloaded a fresh one, though you just get 99% :_B) :_pirate



Quite enjoyed the first one, an interesting concept but not sure how they tackle the other 2 movies, hopefully they do it well.

In agreement with you there sherb, very easy to lose interest in that movie which is a shame.
I think sound is very important in this type of movie something to set the tone and make you edgy, the score in the original movie was very good (and disturbing)
