| Hi, what's up, folks? Well, it's all about the VPN experience...Question is, which one would be the most P2P and smooth browsing friendly? 2 in 1 torrenting, browsing both without changing servers my goal is to keep running torrents using my RDP and accessing sites where I upload... I'm using Speedify, but it has one server that is P2P friendly, but after a few minutes, it disconnects and forces me to turn off services of BitTorrent clients or anything related to it. Also tested NordVPN for a while but its speed and servers are to load full, it gives good browsing experience so do Speedify but with P2P among they are not helping me the way I wanted to. 1. I don't want to install random apps for no reason, Already tried NordVPN after Speedify, you know one machine random apps, cleaning installing may mess it up, that's why I'm asking... 2. I have 4 different VPNs even more and many but the basics are 4, IPVanish, SurfShark, Torguraud, TunnelBear, and NordVPN (not satisfied with it) 3. I know one each service providers it shall be written what it can do, but you know, they say it they don't deliver it, and due to load of work burden I can't make that much investigation, what I'm looking for is, someone who experienced it please name it? Now, will you please, assist me, which one should I use that gives me what I need and suits my tasks? (I mean no testing because I have too much into my OS and I don't wanna mess the system by installing one after one to make it worst)... Looking forward to hearing from you! | I don't upload but Trust Zone works well for me. You can select the server you wish & it retains last server used upon start up. | |

| I use IPvanish, it's under different ownership now so the bad shit from past is in the past.. (yes I know 5 eyes) Been using it for a couple of years now with next to no probs, recently with WireGuard. Speeds are good for both browsing and P2P. I have it on from PC on until PC off and the kill switch works Plenty plenty servers in numerous countries, reasonably priced £24 per quarter, customer support has been good when I've needed it. Numerous devices allowed although can't remember how many! Auto-reconnect: yes DNS leak protection: Yes IPv6 traffic Leak Protection: Yes Block Local Network Interfaces when connected: Yes Disclaimer: I am no expert Last edited by sherb on 2022-04-10 23:07:52 | |

| I've used TorGuard (a bit slow, and the connection kept dropping), NordVPN (OK, and stable), now on CyberGhost - which I am utterly pi55ed off with. CyberGhost -- for me -- has been unstable, and the KillSwitch is unreliable. But, despite the KillSwitch being crap, it manages to kill my AV and firewall whenever it drops a connection. And it drops a connection whenever I have more than one download going and a butterfly flaps its wings in Hong Kong. Can't wait for my subscription to run out. | |

| It depends on what you mainly want it for, and if you mean free, or paid. If you main use is torrenting, and you prefer to pay, you are better off spending the money on a seedbox. | |

| I use surfshark personally, iirc some of their servers are 10gbit now, not that my network is good enough to use it- whatever vpn you have you should bind it as a specific network adapter in qbittorrent if you get what i mean, in settings > advanced > network interface you can change what network it adapter it uses, and basically force it to go through your VPN! | |

| A couple of things spring to mind over this discussion... (1) I try to use a VPN that is run by, and has a lot of servers in, countries that don't have strong data-sharing agreements or legal responsibilities to the US or organizations that are hungry to prosecute over what they see as copyright infringement. Whatever you choose, I would say that this is important. (2) I have no real understanding of what a seedbox is, what it does, or why I would want one. I'm probably not the only one, so would anybody care to enlighten me, or paste a link to something enlightening? (3) After points (1) and (2) for me, what's important are stability/reliability, and the latter leads to does the killswitch work properly?; cost (are the free VPNs as good as the payed for VPNs? Past experience shows you usually get what you pay for); and lastly, speed. Speed isn't so important for me, because I usually throttle my bandwidth use so that other people in the house can use the internet acceptably, then I let big downloads run overnight when everybody's in bed. Anybody care to comment? | |

| 1 = A seedbox is basically a dedicated server for seeding torrents, often with a dedicated or otherwise very high speed network connection, feralhosting is a good one, reasonably cheap too 2 - PLEASE DO NOT USE A FREE VPN. They always either don't allow p2p, or they collect and sell your traffic data, which kind of defeats the whole point. *or both Plus, that means that everything is logged, too, (see that 1tb+ leak of traffic data from a free vpn company) **looked it up, it was UFO VPN 3 - Speed is definitely important, VPNs with more servers will generally have higher speeds since there'll be less load on each individual server! Hope i helped! ***also, generally don't trust built in killswitches, bind the network adapter to your VPNs adapter manually in qbittorrent like i mentioned in an earlier post! | Good tip on the NIC binding, thanks! Trouble is I'm often connecting to services that won't let me use a VPN, so I'd have to keep pi55ing about whenever I do that... v. inconvenient. But then, I suppose, so is prison... and I'll just bet THAT wouldn't be quite like I watched in The L Word | |

| Lol, try the "Split routing" option in some VPN clients, they let you choose what goes through VPN and what goes through your normal network, down to the domains and IPs with surfshark atleast! If you're on a network that refuses to let you connect to your vpn like a lot of ISP "child safety" filters do, here's a pro-tip, change your DNS to something like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 :3 | |

| You've been great ezra! Thank you so much!! EDIT: Aaaand just checked my CyberGhost settings and had a quick scout on the web for the kind of traffic routing you suggested ... a couple more reasons for me to hate CyberGhost and want my subscription to run out Last edited by LiberalLesbo on 2022-04-11 15:43:52 | |

| Basically a fancy name for a remote machine that runs a torrent client you have access and control over. So (for example) instead of running deluge on your PC, it runs on the remote seedbox, and downloads your torrents to that box. You then have to copy them down to your local machine, typically using [secure] FTP. It means your IP never appears as torrenting, instead its the IP of the server, belonging to whatever company runs it. Aside from that obvious advantage, they also generally run on high speed data centre connections. | |

| ezratheproto / battlestar Thank you both very much, the seedbox is an idea that's definitely going to, er, germinate (sorry)... it does sound appealing. I've been playing with qbittorrent since the last few comments and whereas it seems a bit slower for me than BitTorrent, I don't see the option to bind the BT client to use my VPN's virtual adapter, but with qbit' that's a dead easy feature. Many thanks for that tip, it's worth swapping clients just for that... unless anybody can point out how to do the same thing in BT? If there is a way, I can't see it anywhere in the client UI. Many apologies to Prom3th3uS for kind of hijacking your forum question here, but this info' is too good not to run with - for all of us I think | |

| AFAIK there's no option for it in bittorrent, and if it seems slower you should have a fiddle with the port that it uses to connect to other folks/other folks use to connect to you, and also make sure no antivirus programs are having issues with it, its definitely far more lightweight than bittorrent, especially since both bittorrent and utorrent (same company for both now im pretty sure) are known to come bundled with crypto miners x3 best of luck with qbit, 6881-6889 are common bittorrent ports and are commonly blocked/throttled by isps! | |
