| I prefer 1080P as my budget TV won't play 1440P or any higher resolutions | |

| 2k is always going to be better than 1080p.. The higher the res the better for me..just because all my Tvs are 4k not that anything here is broadcast in such high res but we always want more :-@ | |

| 1080p is excellent resolution and doesn't require high end devices to play. | |

| Max of 4gb. Have to transfer them to an SD card to play them on out TV.(no smart) And it only reads cards up to 32 gb. But I installed my beamer and screen today so I can now cast from my smart to the beamer. | |

| Mine said it would only support up to a 32 GB SD card and I put a 64 GB in the slot and it reads it just fine. | |

| Sherb , I was of a similar position but purchased a Samsung 400£ smart TV, the picture was such an upgrade to my HDTV I was amazed . I have 4tb drives attached and they play fine . Last edited by square on 2019-11-10 22:36:32 | |

| @zeke uncompressed 1080p webrips are max 3gb, currently doing one on my native 1440p. It shouldn't be over 5gb, I can even probably make it smaller depending on what encoding software I use. Though I wouldn't want to go lower than 3gb because it'll probably make artifacts in the dark scenes. @Mak ,my 1080p webrips, 2-3gb each. If I did some really long flicks like Lord of The Rings or The Shinning then it'll probably go over 4 but normal 2 hour long ones sit between 2 and 3gigs each. Need that upgrade to fit a 1tb sd then ;) @ LRS If I had a way of ripping 3840 x 2160 I'd try it just to see what uncompressed size looks like. So you can't watch a 1440p rip on a 1080p tv? I use to play 1080p rips on an old visio and lg monitor from the dawn of time, only thing holding me back was codec packs. what formats do you prefer? I've found mp4's look crisper than mkv's on my setup. | |

| Lots of great bargains to be had and don't always be fooled by brand names i got a great 50 inch 4k UHD Smart Tv for the bedroom 2 days ago for £250 from Tesco and the screen quality is just as good as my 55 inch LG that was double the price bought in Black Friday deals (coming up soon again) I still wont buy an OLED etc until they come down in price further as they will as fast as you buy the latest must have something else comes out to replace it. | |

| Personally i wouldn't bother m8 with the 2k any 1 watching on a 1080p Tv will only go for 1080p rip max while any 1 with a 4k Tv will most likely stick to a 1080p or go all out for 4k UHD when it comes to choosing by file size. I've not seen any demand or requests for 2k that i can remember Last edited by LRS on 2019-11-10 23:36:22 | |

| Movies - 2K/4K UHD: All movies in UHD quality that are not Bollywood or packs go into this category. Formats falling under this category are: 1440 pixels high x 2560 pixels wide (called 1440p or 2k) 2160 pixels high × 3860 pixels wide (called 2160p or 4k) | |

| @zeke I'll encode and drop one probably by tomorrow maybe tonight. New encoder so testing it out on some documentaries before I start webripping loads of stuff. Would like to get it at 1.80gb -2.20gb for 1440p's without any picture decomposing 8) @LRS probably do both 1080p and 1440p and bring out ancient megui to see if I can make the old super tiny filesize anime at great quality like we did back in the day. 2k anime movies at 800mb sounds possible. If I could rip it at 4k without needing a 4k tv to rip it I'd do so. However I'm using a screen ripper so its whatever your max resolution is. Unless maybe somewhere in my gpu setting I can set it to 4k? Anyone know if you can set your res to 4k when you don't have a 4k monitor/tv through amd's gpus? | Depends on how they were encoded. A 1440p with low bitrate will look worse than a 1080p with a good bitrate. For video, few people bother with 1440p, they jump from 1080p to 2160p. Aside from its use on computer screens, its a resolution that hasnt really caught on. | |
