I've been looking at these TV's for my Bedroom for mostly watching movies - tv shows - web browsing from my Laptop & some light gaming.
2023 55" Hisense U7K on sale for $480.
55" TCL Q7 for $500
43" Sony X85K for $548.

Anybody have any Recommendations on what TV is a good reliable TV that is under $600?

What TV are you guys using?

I have an old 55" Vizio D Series 1080p from 2015 right now.

I am a Po Man so I can't afford TOTL Samsung. Wish I could though. Looking for something that is Reliable & that will last at least 5 years & that is 120HZ. Sorry I should have Specified but Right now I don't have a TV for my bedroom. The 55" Vizio TV I have is for my living room. So a 55" will be huge for my little bedroom but bigger is better right. I have a 12 year old 46" Samsung that barely works that I tried out in my bedroom & it looked huge. I will be using This New TV as a Monitor for my Laptop & to watch movies & light gaming.

What is the price range you're looking for?
Also an idea is to look for second chance TV's. Those that have been returned and have only a opened box or so. That will drop the price in some case quite a bit.

$600 is my budget price. Open Box would be a good option.

Tv size is relevant to room size. As well as how far away you are from it. Bigger, is not always better. Sorry.

After having Samsungs for years I moved to LG and I'm a HUGE fan! They have a nice line up and WEB OS is a very user friendly interface and very affordable.. I've installed many of them and highly recommend them.

I have there 65 curved 4k 3D OLED. I got it as an open box display, retail was 10k at that time I got it for almost 2k and have had it since 2017 and it is used A LOT.. Sure will miss it when it dies no one else is making 3D Tvs anymore:_:(..

Best of luck with your purchase!

Cheers
D

You did say under 600$ so I'd say that Hisense U7  you listed looks good.
Im happy with my Hisense U6 (65") and it is rated lower than the U7
the site "RTINGS" is great for specs and comparisons.

I love my 55' Sky Glass tv, the built in soundbar is amazing and if the picture settings are tweaked the 4k playback is immense.
Just don't crank the volume way up, the neighbours get cranky :_8)

Thanks guys I really appreciate your input on the TV's. I've never heard of Sky Glass TV. I am in the US. Looks like the HIsense U7K or an LG TV. The only thing I am worried about with the Hisense is the Reliability. I've heard where people have bought the warranty for their Hisense TV & just a couple months after the warranty was expired the TV Died on them & I've heard really good things about Hisense. So I guess it's like taking a chance but most TV's now are made in China I would think. 60% of Samsung TV's are made in China. Crazy right?:_eyes

Apparently they are of substantial weight. I must post this except from a users review........

The TV looks premium and feels well built however it is not a slim or sleek design it is incredibly chunky and heavy, imagine hanging a Victorian dining room table on your wall and that should give you an idea. :_:)

Plug a terrestrial ariel into the back of it and instant council tv or hdmi and you get freesat (providing you have a sky dish)

I talked to a guy on Reddit who bought his Hisense 55" U7K on Costco. He got the 3 year warranty & has had it for almost a year with no trouble. so I think that is the route I am going to go for. Thanks for all the help My Fellow TGX Friends.

5 days ago I read this article (use Google translate) in which Hisense is promoted as pretty good.

On another note...

Ever thought about a beamer? If you have the right wall for it..
For a couple of 100 bucks you can have a pretty good 4k ready smart beamer (working on android) but with plenty of options..
OK it doesn't have 120hz or at least the cheaper ones..
But with one that has 15000 lumen or more you'll get one that's good enough for a bedroom and is still good visible in the daytime.
It doesn't takes up a lot of space and is easy to move to another room.

The article

Quote:

Samsung's competitor comes with a cheaper TV that hangs on the wall as art

TV manufacturer Hisense is launching a competitor for the Samsung The Frame. Just like that  television,  Hisense's new CanvasTV hangs on the wall like a painting, but you can see a big difference in the price.

The Hisense CanvasTV is hundreds of euros cheaper than the Samsung counterpart. The 55-inch version of HiSense costs $999 compared to the $1,499 that Samsung charges for the same size.

The price difference becomes even greater with the 65-inch version. The CanvasTV costs $1,299, while Samsung markets the size of The Frame for $1,999. Samsung does have more sizes of The Frame on offer: they start at 43 inches.

Available in summer
The specifications are almost identical: just like The Frame, the CanvasTV has a 4K QLED screen that prevents reflections. The 144Hz refresh rate, an RGB sensor that takes ambient light into account and 2.02 surround sound are also present. The television also has Google TV, with voice control capabilities to Google Assistant and built-in Google Chromecast functions.

If you are not using the CanvasTV, you will see art. Various paintings from various art movements, from Renaissance and abstract to modern, are installed as standard on the TV. There is also a built-in motion sensor, so that the TV switches itself off when no one is around for a long time. The CanvasTV will be launched in the summer. Hisense does not yet state on its website when the new TV will come to Europe.

Number 2 TV brand worldwide
Hisense televisions have also been for sale in the Netherlands for years, including at MediaMarkt. The Chinese TV brand took second place in the TV market last year: behind Samsung, but ahead of LG and TCL.

I have thought about getting a 4k Projector but a 4k Tv's just have a better quality picture overall. The thing that a Projector has over a TV is you can get a 100 inch at the price of a similar 65 inch TV. I don't need but a 55 inch screen maximum because I will have it in my little 12x14 bedroom. I will be like 8 feet away from the Screen.

3 solutions for ya...

1 - Get a smaller projector...:_:-*:_:D
2 - Put a mirror where the tv would be (8 feet away you say)...then project the image onto the wall behind you...:_:O:_pacman:_eyes....now the image is at least 16-20 feet away giving you a better view:_party:_facepalm:_:-):_:-)
3 - Empty the room...:_:O....get the room padded out:_8):_pacman...get some high def VR Goggles etc...:_eyes.:_:-):_:-):_:-):_party

According to the size distance calculator on RTINGS  it looks like 55" to 57" is the correct size from 8 feet away.  Personally, i wouldn't be able to resist the 65" . :_:)

Thanks PhoenixHunter. I already tried an old 46 inch Samsung that barely works in my bedroom & it looks huge. I guess cause I'm used to my little 16 inch Laptop. I have a 55 inch in my living room & I am about 12 feet away from it. Remember this is for my bedroom.

I remember when a 55 inch was like having a 85 inch screen years ago.:_:-) I remember when 4K came out everybody said we would never use 4K but look at us now. There is 8K now. Ridiculous. I remember when the first flat screen tv came out & it was 25 Grand. It would be worth like 25 dollars now compared to the TV's now.
