| I see alot of topics disscussed about using cracked software: be it WIndows itself or a game or even a cool must have app. Most of the replies to how to stop the program etc is to manually add the .exe file to the blocked list of your firewall, which is great advice, however you should know alot of programs are sneaky and will add extra stuff into other directories, of which; if it cant contact it`s home server will try alternate routes. At the very least you should be running a VPN. One recent thing that happened to me whilst using Ccleaner, yes the free one; was that after years of using a very old version from my win 7 days (and now using it on win11) was that Ccleaner was able to update itself even tho i had blocked with my paid firewall software. Not only had i blocked the main .exe but also to be safe i had also blocked a a number of its .exe`s from the main directory inlcuding its updater. Ccleaner settings i always set to "dont share data app usage data", and "dont check for updates yet i was able to catch a new running program in the task manager called "CCcleaner EMERGENCY Updater" i did not find the location it was hiding in as it appeared briefly in running tasks only to find the next time launching Ccleaner informed me congratulations you are now running the latest version. For those whom dont know Ccleaner got sold in 2017 to Avast Anti-virus company, which loves to spy and bundle software into installers. This also goes for alot of other progams such as adobe premier which scatter various exes in hidden locations Anyways to make a long story short, came across a new interesting free open source firewall called "Portmaster" at their safing (dot)io website. i wont post the link as it may get removed but easy to look it up with search engine. I tried Portmaster firewall on one of my PC`s that had no paid firewall to see if it was as good as i`d heard the dude on youtube explain it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2Yh5ejR_i4, and whilst it can be a bit daunting to find out exactly how to set it up, was great as it monitors and blocks not only the main exe of (i.e) ccleaner and Premiere but any sub exes from that program and all its componants that are trying to access the internet, all from blocking the main .exe I dont know which firewall most people use but my paid firewall cannot do what Portmaster firewall does. For those running a cracked Windows there are even some advanced options to block windows and its various componants dialing home. The only thing i didnt like about it was that it gives a scary message and red icon in the system tray that says Portmaster service is not running; when the LAN cable is disconnected, which is annoying. However it`s Free and opensource and if u want to go the extra mile there`s a paid version which routes apps thru its own vpn or something.. I cant pretend i know all the in`s and outs, but would be curious if some of the galaxy members want to check it out and report here their opinions. That being said: Otherwise of course you can just use a VPN, but.. there are moments when you need to disconnect the VPN, or start from boot etc and in those few minutes/ seconds what with superfast internet speed you never really know what goes on...
