| I've been using my Xbox controller and a clip-on to attach my phone to the controller to be able to use it to play emulated games for quite a while now and even though it works very well, it is quite top heavy and playing eventually becomes uncomfortable due to the weight of my phone. It always wants to topple because of my phone being on top of my controller. There's no proper balance and it's inconvenient for longer gaming sessions. Image for illustration purposes: Due to this i figured i should look into getting a controller which provides a better balance and more comfort, at a price i deemed affordable since I'm a cheapskate. I'm not pirating all that stuff for no reason after all haha. 😁 After doing some research looking into all kinds of different controllers, i eventually settled with a controller called GameSir X2AA which cost me an equivalent of $49. Pictures for illustration purposes only: Image for illustration purposes: After ordering it, it arrived last Friday and I've been testing it ever since. After testing it thoroughly, playing all kinds of emulators on my phone, i can honestly say that this controller is more than worth its money. The systems I've tested it with are Gameboy, Gameboy advance, NES, SNES, Megadrive/Genesis, PSX, Nintendo DS and 3DS, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii and Arcade emulation using MAME. All emulators recognized the controller immediately and they allowed me to setup the controller in any which way i preferred. It recognizes the proper deadzones in both sticks and the D-pad works exactly like you'd expect on a SNES or Gameboy D-pad. If I tilted the stick slightly my character would walk, and when i pressed it to the max my character would run. For as far as I'm able to tell, it does exactly what you'd expect from a game controller for consoles. The one thing I can think of that i don't like is that the L and R triggers are buttons rather than actual triggers such as the triggers on the GameCube, PlayStation or Xbox controllers. But, trying the L and R triggers for GameCube emulation, this made no difference at all. I believe this is because the GameCube never really had any real triggers with feedback corresponding to how far you'd press the triggers down, so you won't notice the difference anyway. It never existed in the first place on that console. I've tried this with Mario Sunshine extensively and, even without the triggers, there's no difference to how you'd play this game on an actual GameCube. The weight of the controller is pretty low. I haven't tried to weigh it but when I pick it up my guess is that it weighs somewhere between 200 and 250 grams. It's about the same weight as an Xbox controller with batteries, for reference purposes. If that means anything to you. The balance is great. Having the weight of the phone removed from the top and placed between my hands is so much more comfortable. It no longers strains my wrists trying to keep it from wanting to topple itself. It's kinda like playing on a Switch. There's no 3.5 headphone jack so you can't connect a wired headset but since I'm using a Bluetooth headset this is no issue to me. The Bluetooth headset works fine. I've had no problems with it at all. Also, since I purchased the Bluetooth version instead of the USB type C version, I'm unable to charge my phone while playing. I have to remove the phone to charge it before i can continue playing. My phone is fully charged in less than 30 minutes so i don't consider this a problem but i do believe that i should mention it. The reason for me to choose the Bluetooth version over the USB type C version is that i don't want anything inside my USB port while my phone is clamped between something but that's a personal preference. In general, i believe the GameSir X2AA is a great controller if you're looking to emulate the systems i mentioned earlier on your phone at a very affordable price. It's not a 100% perfect but it does everything i want it to do emulating the systems i want to emulate on my phone and what it does is done properly. For $49, you really can't go wrong with this controller. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a controller to play emulators on your phone. I give it 8.5 out of 10. 👍 Last edited by SoushkinBoudera on 2023-10-22 11:36:41 | |

| My favorite is the razor kishi. It's available for both Android- and I-phones. There are lots of possibilities with it like button mapping ect. It's also compatible with the official game apps for Xbox cloud and the Playstation app. Unfortunately one of the triggers broke off But I'll be getting the V2 which has more options. | |

| Coincidentally, I've looked at the Kishi V2 before i made my purchase. I have a Razer Wolverine V2 for my Series X and i think it's great but for me the Kishi was out of my league considering on what I was willing to spend on a controller for my phone. The Kishi is even more expensive than my Wolverine. I didn't want to spend more than 50/60 bucks, at most, and with that in mind i started my search. I've used ipega controllers before and they're alright but they lack the proper feedback for 3D gaming. There's only running and standing still, it doesn't allow for walking. For 2D games they're fine but I didn't appreciate that my L stick and my D-pad couldn't be set up independently from each other. That's quite a while ago already so they may have improved on that in the meantime. If you're seriously tight in your budget and you're looking for a controller that's good enough for 2D console emulation on your phone, go with ipega. They're available for $19.99 and up. At least when I purchased mine. If you're like me and you're looking for a controller to use while emulating any of the 3D consoles currently available on Android, with the proper feedback and without the mushy buttons the cheaper controllers have, from experience I'd recommend the GameSir X2AA. It's a great controller for its price. If you don't care about budget and just want the best Android controller on the market, you should definitely get yourself a Razer. I like their Wolverine controller better than the Series X controller that came with my Xbox. But, for Android gaming, they're also three times as expensive as the GameSir X2AA. In the end, i believe all three controllers are good, depending on what you want to do with it and what your expectations from it are. 👍 There are many more brands for Android gaming, i believe 8bitdo is generally recommended as well, but i haven't tried any of those so i can't say how good they are. 🙂 | |

| The razor kishi ranges from $25 up to $60 (which is a bundle... Kishi and hammerhead earbuds both from razor). The V2 starts at $99 and the V2 pro at $129. But like you said... It all depends on how much you want to spend on it... And you have to ask yourself what you want from mobile gaming... It comes with endless possibilities Home Consoles: Panasonic 3DO * Atari 2600/5200/7800 Atari Jaguar * Colecovision PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16) PC Engine CD (TurboGrafx-CD) Nintendo Entertainment System Famicom Disk System Super Nintendo Nintendo 64 * Sega Master System Sega Genesis / CD / 32X Sega Saturn * Sega Dreamcast * Neo-Geo / CD NEC PC-FX Sony PlayStation Handheld Consoles: Atari Lynx Game and Watch Nintendo Game Boy Nintendo Game Boy Color Nintendo Game Boy Advance Nintendo DS Nintendo Virtual Boy Pokemon Mini Sega Game Gear Neo-Geo Pocket / Color Sony Playstation Portable * Wonderswan / Color Home Computers: Amiga Amstrad CPC Atari ST Commodore 64 (and C16/Plus4/C128) Intellivision MSX PC (DOSBOX) ScummVM ZX Spectrum Arcade Systems: MAME 2003-Plus Final Burn Neo Atomiswave * Naomi * Price depends the package you want. | Yes. That's exactly what it said for me on their website. $129 + $11 shipping fees. On Amazon it's $149 without the shipping fees. But that might be because I'm in Asia. 🙂 I've checked the dedicated handhelds as well, mainly the Anbernic, but decided it wouldn't be worth it for me because of their CPUs and low RAM. I've tried using Citra and Dolphin on a Samsung with Exynos CPU before but that didn't work out very well. Especially Citra, it did nothing for me. Then i switched to Xiaomi 11T Pro with a snapdragon 888 and 12GB RAM and everything runs at full speed. Even when i crank up the resolution to X4 internal on Citra or 1080p on Dolphin. No problems at all. It's the first time I'm able to run games such as Metroid Prime without any performance issues on a phone. Save for a few hiccups here and there, it's still an emulator after all. 😁 I'm still in love with the GameCube so I'd definitely want to emulate that and the minimum requirements for Citra are Snapdragon 750 and 6GB RAM, if I remember correctly. It's quite heavy on your system when you want to emulate it. But yes, i think we can all agree that it depends entirely on the package you want and what you're willing to pay for it. 🙂 Last edited by SoushkinBoudera on 2023-10-22 18:19:35 | |
