|   Project Brainstorm is a 1983 American science fiction thriller film directed, effects specialist and produced by Douglas Trumbull and starring Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood. Project Brainstorm was Trumbull's second directorial effort after Silent Running. The premiere in Germany took place on February 10, 1984. Plot The film is about the scientist Dr. Lillian Reynolds, who along with her collaborators, the estranged couple Dr. Michael Anthony Brace and Karen Brace, has developed a revolutionary device. It is a brain/computer interface (initially still a kind of helmet, which will later be made more compact) that makes it possible to record thoughts, emotions and experiences, make them visible and transfer them to other people. Gold-coated magnetic tapes are used as the storage medium, which are written with a laser and can also be edited and cut as desired. The apparatus is applicable to humans and monkeys. When the highly stressed and heart-sick Dr. Reynolds suffers a massive heart attack, she decides to document her death with the intention of leaving the magnetic tape to her colleague Michael so that he can obtain scientific knowledge about what happened during and after death. Ruthless industrialist Alex Terson decides to sell Brainstorm to the military and use it for brainwashing purposes. He orders the 'death tape' containing the death experiences of Dr. Keeping Reynolds under wraps so no one else has access to the tape. Michael tries to play the tape but is unable to do so at first as he must first tone down and transform the painful and unbearable feelings recorded. He succeeds, but a company employee who watches the tape unfiltered at the same time dies in agony. Michael later also finds access to the secret project Brainstorm. Through the phone line and with the assistance of an employee fired after enjoying a 'sex tape,' he gains access to recordings produced for military use. He plays one of the tapes. A life-threatening psychotic episode is shown after a government warning. Michael now recognizes the true plan behind the project. While Michael tells his wife the truth about the project, their son Chris sits down at the device and plays Terson's 'extreme tape,' which causes Chris to suffer severe psychological trauma. But Michael is still determined to go to Dr. Reynolds death tape and play it - even if it is only possible for him to risk his life. | |

| .jpg) The Bridge at Remagen (original title The Bridge at Remagen) is a war film from 1969 about the legendary first Rhine crossing by units of the United States Army. The plot of the film is based on the historical background, but does not describe the actual events in March 1945. The film should not be confused with the German television production of the same name from 1967. Plot In March 1945, Germany was on the verge of military collapse. While in the east the Red Army is marching inexorably towards Berlin, in the west the Americans are standing in front of the Rhine (to the north of Koblenz: Operation Lumberjack, to the south: Operation Undertone). By blowing up the Oberkasseler Bridge near Bonn, the Germans prevented the Americans from taking the bridge at the last moment. This makes the Ludendorff Bridge near Remagen the last intact Rhine crossing. Thus, the bridge becomes both a target for the Americans, the only remaining retreat for the scattered units of the 15th Army, some 75,000 men who are trapped on the west side of the Rhine, and the last chance for civilians to escape from the areas on the Rhine West side contested areas. General Shinner orders a rapid advance through Meckenheim to Remagen to cut off the 15th Army's retreat route. He assumes that the bridge will either be blown up by the Germans or bombed by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). The spearhead of this campaign is Major Barnes and his battalion, led by Captain Colt's A Company. Captain Colt is killed when they take over a German-held farmstead. Lieutenant Hartman is then left to lead the company while Sergeant Angelo (nicknamed 'Angel') takes over his platoon. Since Hitler wanted to prevent the Americans from crossing the Rhine at all costs, General von Brock received the order to have the bridge blown up as soon as possible. A risk like that of the Oberkasseler Bridge should not be taken again. But General von Brock wants to save the lives of as many soldiers of the 15th Army as possible. When his protests are rejected, he appoints his old friend Major Krüger as combat commander of Remagen. He promises to delay the demolition of the bridge for as long as possible. When Major Krüger arrives in Remagen, he learns from Captain Schmidt, the head of the bridge security company, that instead of the 1,600 men on paper, only about 200 men are still available for defense. He can no longer persuade the NSDAP district leader and city councilor Holzgang, whose only son was killed in Stalingrad, to offer resistance against the Americans and to round up men in Remagen to defend the city. The two tank detachments that General von Brock wanted to have ready as reinforcements never arrived at Remagen. The explosives for the bridge blast are supplied, but the material is inferior, which you try to compensate for by only attaching explosive charges to the most important points of the bridge and always using double the amount. After USAAF bombing, Remagen is taken by US troops. Although white flags are hanging at the Holzgang family's hotel, the Americans are shot at from a window. After Sergeant Angelo shot the shooter, he was shocked to discover that the boy was barely 16 years old. Holzgang claims to have forbidden the boy to resist. However, his pin gives him away as a member of the NSDAP, which is why Lieutenant Hartman does not consider him trustworthy. The soldiers have a view of the bridge from a church tower and realize that it has not yet been blown up by the Germans. Major Barnes then lets tanks take heavy fire on the bridge. But when General Shinner arrives in Remagen and realizes the strategic importance of the bridge, he orders the blast to be prevented and the bridge taken, since a quick crossing of the Rhine could shorten the war by weeks and save thousands of soldiers' lives. Lieutenant Hartman receives orders to storm the bridge and remove the explosive charges, resulting in heavy casualties. When the Americans are on the bridge, Major Krüger orders the detonation, which, however, can only be triggered with a delay using an emergency fuse, since the ignition lines were interrupted by shell hits. Hartman and his men are only able to remove part of the explosive charges and escape just in time. After the blast, both sides are surprised to find that the bridge is still standing. The bloody fight for the bridge continues. Major Krüger has holed up in the railway tunnel with the remaining men, only a handful, including many wounded, and civilians seeking protection. He wants to continue the fight for the bridge, but cannot motivate anyone to continue fighting. When he also shoots two deserters, he is called a murderer. Since telephone contact with headquarters is no longer possible, he wants to go there to explain the situation to General von Brock and to request reinforcements. At headquarters he meets SS officer Gerlach, who, invoking an order from Hitler, has relieved General von Brock of his command. Major Krüger tried in vain to explain that the failed bridge blast was due to insufficient explosives of the required quality. He was deposed by Gerlach as combat commander of Remagen and arrested, after which he was summarily shot. At the bridge, Captain Schmidt and the rest of the men surrendered to the Americans. Ten days after the events, the bridge collapses; it could no longer withstand the strain (in fact, 8,000 Allied soldiers, vehicles and weapons crossed the bridge within 24 hours of the conquest).
