| This is an issue which has only started to occur within the last month or two. Initially I had a problem when downloading anything which had been shown on Apply TV (like Foundation, etc.) where the TV simply said "Unsupported Format". I could fix this by running it through VLC or Handbrake. However recently I am getting an issue more and more where video playback suddenly skips frames, spins the loading icon, or simply crashes out back to the file selection screen after playing for a short time, displays the file with a red circle with a line through it. Two recent ones which I have been getting this on are Episode 10 of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Roswell Season 4 Episode 2, Flowers in the Attic Season 1 Episode 1, and also the movie H.P. Lovecraft's Witch House (though there have been many others). I've tried downloading different sources but all exhibit the same problem. I've even tried running them through HandBrake using a few different encoding options, but when they are played back I still get the same problems, or when they reach the parts where the original file skipped, I get heavily pixellated or greyed out frames. As I said, I've been downloading and playing films and series files for a few years with no problem, it has only started to appear these past few months, but is becoming more and more problematic. If anyone can suggest what may be happening, or an encoding in Handbrake I would be grateful. I've already ruled out my internet connection and computer being the problem as I've also tried downloading at friends and on different platforms (iMac, MacBook, Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10), and re-downloading the same file from the same source gives the same problems at the same places. Many thanks in advance for any advice offered. | |

| Hi VortexWalker, Whilst i dont own a Samsung TV i can tell you the best setting for handbrake to hopefully get it to play. When you re-encode it, under the video tab where it says frame rate change this to constant frame rate instead of peak frame rate this should help tremendously and fix bad frames. Other than that cant think of anything other than maybe get a very long HDMI cable to plug PC into TV (tho also be wary and find out which hdmi cable u need as i accidently bought a hdmi 1.4 cable one time tho my graphics card was hdmi 2.0 which did not work) Last edited by realityshow on 2022-07-15 03:06:20 | |

| I'll give it a try what's the source file; and timestamps of the problem areas would be useful as well? edit: what codec and container are you wanting? Last edited by phunpsyz on 2022-07-15 03:20:30 | |

| Okay, this is annoying! I played back the video I'd downloaded on Flowers in the Attic (Flowers.in.the.Attic.The.Origin.S01E01.WEB.x264-TORRENTGALAXY) and played it through noting the points at which it was freezing and skipping, and then for the sheer hell of it, downloaded it again from the same source, and this time it played all the way through with no problems!!!! I've just done the same with Star Trek Strange New Worlds S01E10 and the same has happened, yet I had downloaded this three times a couple of days ago and each one skipped and froze at the same points grrr. It was even happening in VLC. I'm at a loss as to what it could be now, it's obviously not the uploads or the problem would persist. I've always used qBittorrent as my client, and I've tried it on three different computers, so the chances of it being a hardware fault are slim. The one thing I have just noticed is that IP-Vanish has decided to connect through a different server tonight and the downloads are working. I'll try locking it into this server for a while and see if the problem goes away. I'll soon know, I'm downloading everything that was causing problems from their original sources again. Thanks for the responses guys, it's really been appreciated. | |

| Finally tracked the problem down, when it suddenly started happening again, to the client I was using - qBittorrent. Even though the downloads where showing 100% complete, when I force checked them, they werew between 98% and 99%. Now switched to using Transmission and the problem has gone away. | |

| Glad u solved it! i been using qbittorent for last few years and i must admit i am scared to upgrade it to newer version as last time i did that i was losing completed torrent from the completed list (tho they were still on hard drive thankfully) had to go back to 4.2.5 which i`m stuck with forever most likey. I am betting the problem came after upgrading to a newer version? | |

| Hi everyone, since I'm not allowed (yet) to create posts, I will bump on this post, which I believe is the most related to my issue - sorry in advance for the bump I've have an issue with x264 movies or tv series from GalaxyRG[TGX] releases, 1080p or 480p it doesn't matter. when I play the video files on my Samsung TV it doens't work, no errors, just don't play it when I use Plex on my Samsung TV, some movies don't play and TV gets back to Plex home screen, others stay blocked loading... when I play the same video files on my PC it works fine, with VLC or Plex client. when I use videos from other releases, such as RARBG, ION10 or YTS it works fine, TV and Plex on TV is ale to play them without issues. I checked 1 working video file and 1 non working file, and only saw difference within the audio codec. working video has MP4A non working video has A52 (AC3) anyone faced similar issues? any suggestions? EDIT: I made some more tests, and it seems that the issue is the subtitle name that is too long. I've removed the subtitles with mkvmerge --no-subtitles and it worked. (no other changes on audio, video or even mkv container) GalaxyRG would it be possible to reduce the name of the subtitles, in most cases is the movie entire name, in others is "Galaxy TV - small excellence!!" meanwhile will find a way to automate the removal of subtitles... | I had the same issues before, But i got it if there was more then about 25 files in the .mkv, the video, the audio then around 30-40 subtitles files Removing the subtitles in mkvtool sorted the problem for me, Happened on my old hitachi smart tv and new samsung smart tv. I play files through an external harddrive in the usb pirt of the tv. Never had a oroblem if i connect the laptop to the tv through hdmi as the laptop is doing the decoding. | |

| thanks for your reply Barharmar I made some more tests today and actually subtitles is not the issue for me, neither the long name of each stream (audio, video or subtitles). If I run mkvmerge -o movie-af.mkv movie-bf.mkv it works, it stays with all subtitles and everything like the original video, but I noticed that the size is a bit smaller. I tried with episode 1 season 6 of black mirror, the original file has 240.9MiB, after running the above command, the output file has 240.3MiB... so is like something is removed. I've used mkvToolNix, and the content is the same I've tried to use Tdarr to clean-up subtitles and metadata for audio & video, but no luck, it still not working after using Tdarr. it seems that mkvmerge is doing something that fixes my issue so my next step was to check the file content, I have used an HEX editor, and noticed that the file after mkvmerge has made some changes on the beginning of the file, like it changed some header information feel free to suggest or give any hints | |

| Are you sure its the tvs problem and not the torrent (on your end) sometimes on utorrent and qbittorrent it will say complete, but its not the 100% it says, its 90-99.9% or lower (and will cause skipping) Force rechecking helps Could be a Samsung tv thing though ,I had a tv once that one of its selling points was its great dolby audio......but it couldnt play a file with "dolby true sound" audio | |

| very good points, I saw that some users in the past had issues with that if it was an issue with the torrent, then other releases such as RARBG, YTS, ION10 will have the same issue, which is not the case, so my guess is not related with torrent download client. then if it was dolby audio, which could be, but how come that just running mkvmerge without any arguments fix it? and when checking the audio stream is always AAC surely there's something that Samsung TV doesn't like, I would like to understand the reason... | |

| You should use mkvtool to extract the audio and the video as two seperate files, and then play both seperately on your tv. If both work...i have no idea If none work...i have no idea If one of them works but the other doesnt, then youv narrowed it down a bit more to either the audio or video and i can try help more | |

| thanks Barharmar I'm afraid if I use mkv tools to extract audio and/or video it will work, since when I use mkvmerge with no arguments fix the issue. mkv tools are doing something into my file, making it working without no encoding or anything else - the mkvmerge command takes around 30s to run on a 1.4Gb file... I had put in place a workaround, a cron job that will run mkvmerge for mkv videos - is my safest option at the moment. although there's no explanation for my issue, this workaround is enough to me. thanks for suggestions and brainstorming. | |

| Im having similar issue when playing files through on board media player with hisense u6 65" (through usb). Using fast forward freaks out the playback and audio loses sync. It may also just stop completely halfway through. No issue on pc, everything works fine. This just happened on 2 RARBG mp5 uploads that happened to be REMASTERED and it is somewhat rare, most things play normally. Below is a search result on the subject (copy and paste).................. Unable to fast forward or rewind - no option to restart film from stop point: RESPONSE= The solution is to make proper encodes. If the video file has proper sequence headers, then it can be FF/REW, and random-access into the video stream is supported. If the video file is badly indexed, or is all one sequence, then “trick mode” can not be supported (i.e. no FF/REW, and no mid-point resuming). Any properly made file will play properly, and will support trick mode properly. The media player simply doesn’t have the processing power to add trick mode capabilities to bad encodes that don’t natively support it. If you made the files yourself, I’d look at the settings you used and/or look into using a different program to make your encodes. If this is a pirate download, there’s not much to be done. You’d just have to go steal a different copy from a different scene group who actually knows how to encode video properly. Of course, having “glitches” in the middle of a file is also a bad sign… proper files should be glitch-free. | |

| I'd agree with PhoenixRising above. I was having the same issue with MKVs and most other file types on a Samsung Smart TV. This disappeared when I started using VideoProc Converter to simply convert everything into MP4 as soon as it was downloaded. The problems just vanished with the MP4s, but still exist with the source MKVs. Conclusion? It's got be a problem with the encoding hasn't it? | |

| My tv won't play avi or H-265. I have to convert avi to mp4 and then it works. I dont think encoders are used to thinking about accommodating the wimpy on board media players that come on some TVs. Im just wondering if i would have the same problem with a NVIDIA shield. Probably not. | |

| Sometimes it's not the video codex that is causing the problem. It could be the audio codex as well. | |
