| I don't really have any hobbies now, but I was a hillwalker/munro bagger and I've done a few long distance paths. I've climbed all of Scotlands Munros (mountains in Scotland over 3000ft) some I've done several times. There are 283 Munros. It took me 19 yrs to complete all of them. I have climbed Ben Lomond 32 times and Ben Nevis 7 times and a good few others 2 or 3 times. The most I have done in one day was 10 Munros on a 16hr day Mamores I've walked the West Highland Way 4 times (there and back twice) 151km/94 miles one way, both times I would rest for 2 days before doing the return journey. I can no longer do it any more due to arthritis in my hips and right knee. When I say climb I really mean walk as only one required mountaineering skills, I/we hired a pro guide to help us with that one. EDIT: When I finished my round there was 284 Munros, one got demoted. | And only 2 weeks ago myself, my wife and a friend done the NC500 (clockwise). If any members are ever in Scotland I recommend you hire yourself car or campervan and do it. The scenery if spectacular, especially the northwest and north coast. There's also plenty of historical sites to see. | |
