The second of a ten volume set, this collects 14 classic vocal-group performances, all of which came to prominence from a radio show sponsored by Slim's Times Square Records shop. The only "hits" on here are the Capris' "There's a Moon Out Tonight" and "Church Bells May Ring" by the Willows, but obscure favorites like "Cora Lee" by the Hemlocks, "The Wind" by the Jesters, "Teenager's Dream" by the Kodaks, and "Ankle Bracelet" by the Pyramids are the types of records that doo-wop collectors dream about in their sleep. Another solid entry in this series, and one of Collectables' very best.

With a title like Memories of Times Square Record Shop, you wouldn't think that this Collectables series would have such broad appeal, but it compiles dozens of rare doo wop singles -- most of which are excellent -- that have changed hands for substantial sums. Obsessive doo wop fans won't be 100 percent satisfied, of course (these are, after all, budget releases), but the beauty of these discs is that the music can be enjoyed by the informed and merely interested alike. The first volume features the Elchords' "Peppermint Stick," the Pyramids' "Hot Dog Dooly Wah," the Magnificent 4's "The Closer You Are," the Veltones' "Now," and the Excellents' "You Baby You."
Collectables is a reissue record label founded in 1980 by Jerry Greene. Greene was previously associated with New York City's Times Square Record Shop, Philadelphia's Record Museum retail chain, and the Lost Nite and Crimson record labels
Collectables is the largest independently owned (and family-operated) reissue label in the United StatesIt maintains a catalogue of over 3,400 active titles on compact disc with thousands of additional titles available on vinyl. It has released hundreds of recordings from the vaults of major labels such as Columbia, Atlantic, RCA, Capitol, Vee-Jay and others, making many available on CD for the first time. Genres found on Collectables include rock, jazz, comedy, blues, doo-wop, and funk.
