“It's a dream come true,” Alan Stivell told the audience in Rennes on April 7, 2022, at the end of the first of two concerts to revive his ‘Celtic Symphony’. Stivell's dream was first and foremost to completely rearrange the famous symphony, recorded in 1979, but which he had begun to imagine over twenty years earlier.
On April 7, 2022, forty-two years after its live premiere in Lorient, part of the “Celtic Symphony” returned to the stage, rearranged and performed by Alan Stivell's band, the Orchestre National de Bretagne, a bagad, choristers and singer Juliette Chevalier.
Alan Stivell also took the opportunity to revisit some of his best-known songs (including the famous “Tri martolod”) in symphonic versions.
Liberté - Roazhon, the double live album based on this evening, is a great moment of mixed music, where past and present merge. And a magnificent overview of a great career accomplished with Brittany at its heart.
