2 CD Set., Deluxe Edition, Remastered "An amazingly prolific artist who brought a brisk air of urban sophistication to his frequently stunning presentation, John "Peter" Chatman -- better known as Memphis Slim -- ranks as one of the greatest blues pianists of all time.” Allmusic Recorded In London & Paris During 1960 & 1961. Including tracks previously unreleased in North America. Recorded live in London & Paris during ’60 & ’61. Disc One focuses on Slim’s full-throated vibrato-less shout with instrumental backing from Alexis Korner and Stan Greig. Originally only released in Europe this is the first physical releases for these recordings in North America. While most of Disc Two features a completely solo piano session recorded in Paris, July 1961. At this point Slim permanently moved to Paris, where recording and touring possibilities seemed limitless and the veteran pianist was treated with the respect too often denied even African-American blues stars at home back then.
