Queen Rocks is a compilation album by British rock band Queen, released on 3 November 1997. According to Brian May, their last album, 1995's Made in Heaven, was softer and most of their records were very diverse, so they wanted to show that Queen was basically a hard rock band.
After the album was announced, the fan club posted the planned track order on the band's website, and announced that the songs "Tie Your Mother Down" and "I Can't Live with You" planned for the promotional single were reworked - as it later turned out, only the latter they hardened his sound, especially the drum and guitar accompaniment. Several more well-known songs were later added to the list, but there were also harder numbers that were not real hits in their time. May also wrote a new song for the record, "No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)", which reached number thirteen as a single in the UK.
May was the original author of the overwhelming majority of the songs on the album. The cover art (by Richard Gray) caused a minor backlash among fans because it depicted the original Queen crest exploding. In Brazil and the Republic of South Africa, the nude nymphs of the picture had to be censored. The album reached number six in the UK and sold more than 300,000 copies.
